And el wordo. "From Dali to Caravaggio" or something like that. I'll be there at least once, for sure. There's also something related to Dali going on at the DMA until August. And I just found out that a DMA membership can get you free admission at Kimbel events.

Dali was very twisted, and if you look at a lot of his paintings it shows. Dali was a huge fan of Sigmond Freud (sp?) and drew a lot of inspiration from his theories on the sub-conscience. Dali was deathly afraid of sex and intimacy, he had a fear of being castrated, and was obsessed with death, and deathly afraid of grasshoppers. That is why in many of his paintings you will see grasshoppers and ants. I was pretty disappointed in the exhibit myself, as they only had a few original paintings, most of them were prints and I know those are still cool but it's not the same. Some of the original sketches were cool, but there was anything there out of his Paranoia Critical period which is what I like. That is when he painted all of the weird double images, and the paintings looked real smooth, and basically all around twisted. I did enjoy a lot of the sculpture that was on display though. If I could afford it, I would have bought one.

![]() It's ok though, I'm still planning on visiting the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. They have a huuuuge collection, including the original Hallucinogenic Toreador(my favorite). http://salvadordalimuseum.org/

The stuff on display was wicked, but as some one said above, ther were very few original paintings. The sculptures were an added bonus tho - some of that stuff was incredible. I went on the last day - which reminds me - running an exhibit like that for only 4 weeks should be illegal. I know many people missed out simply b/c it ran for such a short time.
