wow. this is a freaking old thread. i have been on ddm tooooooo long, my
friends.

i am not going to re read the whole thing. i was there. i do wish i had copies of the pictures discojelly took of this party. STILL. i think it would be funny to post a little flickr archive of some of the old dverz party pix. we have changed a lot, but those were some great concept parties.

i have one little file of pix that people specifically asked me to take off the internet on the old site (i bet the leks have a file like that too lol). those are blackmail gold. but i would never go there. i swear, i really am a nice girl.

i wish i had the rollerdisco pictures because i bet there are shots of everyone skating, ghetto kids about to riot at the house system, hot girls on rollerskates, and a pretty damn cool rink.

man i make mistakes like everyone else and i thought the kids would go home around midnight. i was wrong wrong wrong on that. their parents were swerving in to pick them up at 6am. the first 2 djs played funk & old school hip hop and the kids LOVED it. then when it went disco & house they freaking almost rioted cause they wanted little jon.

i think we could have kept outnumbering the kids but i also did not consider falling bullets from the midnight 21 gun salutes in the surrounding residential neighborhoods. rofl. i forgot you suburban white children aren't used to people celebrating with gunfire. it was new years eve, you know. no one got hurt.

i won't apologize for taking everyone to the hood. lets get serious. underground parties are in bad neighborhoods. they have bigger problems then a bunch of mischievous grown ups being silly with loud music. we aren't going to rob anyone or riot. we can set up 2 or 3 soundsystems and bring enough security to protect it.

i should have had twice as many of my own security. but they wanted to use their own as well so i brought in less. their guys wandered in a pack around the parking lot drinking 40s. they were ineffective. i broke it up & told them they weren't getting paid unless they started doing things my way, right fkkng now. break that shit up & put them in strategic places. i had one on the house system. i think sergio put one of the others & dnb room when they started touching the gear. but between bullets & preteen bedlam the text msgs kept the latecomers clear.

i look back and am thankful i have realllllly good friends that are like my chosen family. it could have gone badly. but there were lots that toughed it out & had a good time doing their own thing.

my djs were goddamned soldiers. i have soooo much respect for all the guys & ladies that toughed out those kids. they were delinquents. i have to respect the kids for standing out their turf though. i mean come on, it was THEIR rink. (my bad, i should have cut them out. i learned from my mistakes & that's why the i.d.'s now.) silly me likes the idea of all ages shows. you don't have to drink or be fkt up to enjoy good music and art. that is a myth.

but all you djs did something special for those brats. u showed them a style of music totally foreign to them. and as many who were yelling & throwing shit. there were a few that probably changed their musical taste for their rest of their lives, muhahahahahahaha!

& isn't corrupting the youth of america one of the best perks of spinning records? giving them a taste of the good stuff. infecting them with beats they can't explain. rhythm that haunts your dreams. bass that you physically feel after you leave, like you been riding roller coasters all day.

ok. that was a nice little walk down memory lane. love to my guests, my co-conspirators and dear dear friends. if i have time this snow day, maybe i'll post some oldy pix for yous. would anyone like that?
