Ha! Well it was kinda interesting to hear from some of you others that were there that night... said one black child to a white girl: fxcking white people music! Thats kinda funny, i actually got the chance to fill in playing some House records for a while til some of the other DJs got there...and some girl asked me if we were gonna play some black music. I told her "This is House music, it was created by homosexual black people in Chicago..you cant get any blacker than this!" ;o) I tried to make those kids understand. Told them that this night is for them to experience something different..something new. Some of those kids however DID enjoy themselves. I was really neat to see some of the younger ones learning how to dance to DnB from us older ones. Some of them were actually getting into it..it was cute. |

Last night was fun, but then again I missed all the tom-foolery. We showed up with about 10 people, paid to gain entrance and proceeded to enjoy ourselves. All this talk about the promotions being mis-handled is rubbish. PLENTY of people knew about it, with all the usual 'I can't wait' generalizations. The party was promoted just fine. Too bad the heads skipped out. But then again, it was fresh programming to unfettered minds. There is weight given to the fact that this type of crowd(age-not color) was anticipated. So I packed wisely. The idea is to relate to the crowd, or just blow their minds. Sorry to hear that Josh and Sean got treated like that. Who was there to offset this immature nonsense?? I brought a motley crew to insure that the scales were tipped towards having a good time. I've seen some strange shit go on at parties: people touching the equipment, stopping the music because they are fixated on their own reality. I still would rather take my chances with mob mentality as opposed to spend my life DJ-ing on stages, cut off from the crowd. Fuck it, there is something to be said for those little bastard's sense of rebelliousness. But if you're up at 4AM, it's crucial to have some tact/respect/taste.odd fact: not one single balloon, noise maker or cheap party hat. It's like tonight is really NYE |

Sunday afternoons at Pharmacy you have some of the best hip-hop DJs in the city to preface the house music at night. Sunday nights at The Slip Inn you are always guaranteed to be schooled on 'old school', as well as Thursdays at Slip Inn. These nights are always hoppin. They've been going for some time... but the majority of the people on this board are to scared to step out of their normal routine. If it's not at Crave, Pharmacy, or Zubar... they don't go. So sad. People are missing out on some damn good times and tunes.

I don't know if I will make it over to Pharmacy today. I need to get my stuff back together for tonight, and possibly nap a bit to help the weekend recovery. (I think when I just farted some white residue and whisky shot out my ass... damn that Red-Eye last night). Terry kicks off around 5 usually. Then he usually swings over to Slip Inn to play with me. Scotty's comin' up to play tonight at Slip Inn as well, and if it's like a normal Sunday, Sal will show up with some records in tow too. It's real loose. We just kinda toss it around to each other, and with the 4 of us it usually gets pretty funky. I guess you should just grab your tunes as well and we'll make a party of it... unless you will be at Jason Douglas, of course. Last edited by JustMike; 01-02-05 at 01:39 PM.

I am going to start off and say I had a FUN TIME the few hours I was there! Great venue. It was fukin HUGE!! I had a blast spinning. I had a bunch of friends there listening and dancing to my music so I was happy. I even threw down some dnb!! THANKX to EVERYONE who stayed there for my set! You guys rock. Thank you Sergio for having me out again! Oh-yeah, some kids were trying to be a "Dj" and scratch on the record TWICE during a MIX! The second time, I took off my headphones and shoved him.... Man, those kids had NO MANNERS!!!! Newayzzz, I still had a good NYE!!!

For all the others involved, the person that took the most punishment has now even said that it was a great venue. It still sounds to me like people should just have thought a bit ahead to WHERE this party was being played at. This is NOT Suz's fault in anyway shape or form. Everyone has has the exact same information since it was released. If anything, I think that a bit of booth "security" aka friends (since so many people are crying that they had support) would have stopped that quite quickly. I'm sorry to those that had a bad experience, but at least the show kept going. I applaud you for that in itself.

The fact that you brought 'demographics' into it proves you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. But then again, if 'phatbastard' is what you call a vision, then maybe we should be talking about something more trivial. Current DDM Standards Amendment #1 Hating Trance: Unacceptable Hating 12 yr Olds: Cool Yea, maybe she was promoting to the wrong crowd. This party was a perfect reminder to me of the problems that arise when the DJ thinks too much of himself and not enough of the rest of us. |
