Well, Hepcatmama definently had a great idea for a party. It didnt go as planned though...however, It was a pretty fun and interesting night. Well if any of you all were there, you can agree with me that we older people were surely outnumbered by the kiddie Ghetto insurgents! And what a force they are to be reckoned with!!! Let's recount: First they proceed to interviene with Sno White's mix by doing a little "Wikky-wikky wak" on the the turntables....WHILE MISS SNO WHITE IS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRANSITION!! We would bat one little kid away..but they amass in numbers and before poor Snow White could restart her transition, another little kid skates up and does a wikky-Wikky-Wak on the tables! Oooohh..quite a funny situation seeing the "Fury of Mary" putting down headphones and coming from behind the tables after those kids! LOL Props to everyone who took action on Turntable guarding! hehe Next was all the kids there that seemed to hate all the electronic music..with them constantly asking if they are gonna play more rap. This got so bad that one of those little culprits secretly pulled the power plug on the main room system... I have to say that all of you DJs that played that night...you guys did great and played some cool stuff!! I will try to post pics very soon. It was great to meet all you Downtempo Djs! I hope to see you all again! Also, that girl Courtney, it was cool meeting you and your girl, Pm me sometime! That skate place was the most coolest ever. I honestly think it had better lighting that most clubs i have been to. Well, thats my take. Reporting live from RollerDisco....Back to you Jim! |

Man at least we didn't get that. We had to split to head to our next gig so I didn't get to see the action. I have a hatred for 12 years olds so I would've been whooping some ass. Although it was great to see them try to act all ghetto and cool in front of people and then trip over their own feet to wax in the middle of the rink. Then they would just get up and skate off all embarrassed. Priceless.

NEVER in my 10 years of djing, pulled my record off and left the party with clapping because of leaving. Thoses little F**ks!!!! Throwing water bottels and giving me the finger all night is not my idea of a good time on New Years might I add. When we gonna hear Rap. 20 or more times in the 30 mins i could stand being there. The Ring was very nice. Good Idea, Bad aftermath. Sorry Suzanne, I know this was not your bad. Forgive me for leaving.

word. Weird times. Great music. I was skeptical about the whole thing to begin with. I saw it coming, but there was a small chance for a minute. We were out numbered. Suffered some casualties. Damn evil kids, they shoulda been home alseep. I saw a new guy attempt to MC, he kept up w/ the rhythm for a second that was funny and a few junglist were born. Anyhow thanks to everyone who attended. Suzanne all ages never again.

Hmmm... well I played the first spot from 7:30-9p in the main room. I played Prince, Zapp, Earth Wind & Fire, Funkadelic, and Gap Band. I had tons of requests for rap music... So I played Salt n Pepa, Stetsasonic, Digital Underground... they dug it and danced in front of the stage. Lots of kids, but none of them giving me problems. I expected kids and the general public to be there, so I planned accordingly. I dig requests because it gives me an idea of what they want... even if I don't play it. I told Suzanne when she asked me to play that the main reason I wanted to was because I knew there would be kids there. It's a challenge. I went in planning on making them move a little bit to music they might not know... and I left content that I did just that. As for the kids coming up to the equipment, I didn't get any of that. As for the establishment, that place is one fine skating rink... Could use a little work on the sound, but it's a cool spot. Sorry you guys had a rough evening. Thanks Suzanne! I thoroughly enjoyed myself! M Last edited by JustMike; 01-01-05 at 04:57 PM. |
