well, there wasn't anybody "naked". somebody here asked me to count the sillicone, and i actually did not see too much. maybe 4 or 5 pairs, and none on the strippers made up like sexy angels. some of their costumes were actually quite cool. it was held in a private room off of silver city cabaret. decent sized but not huge. it was really cool that you could get food, but really uncool that we did not know that beforehand so we had already eaten. there were way less people there than we expected. and i would guess way, way less people than they did. i would guess that not more than 500 patrons came through the door all night. and, when i did a room count around 12:30 or 1am, there were about 300 people in there. i would have expected it to be much more packed, had they promoted it well. my suspicion is that they did not count on the cluelessness and general apathy of the dallas scene. my guess would be that NakedLA is well known in, well, LA, and other major nightlife areas, so the mere mention of their name probably brings the clubbers out in droves. unfortunately, in Texas, hardly anybody knows what is going on in the international club scene, so they did not have a clue what was up. the promoters needed to advertise much heavier here than in other, more savvy, locations to overcome Dallas' cluelessness and general resistance to having a good time. the music was pretty good. standard trance/dance/house as far as i could tell. the place might have benefited from an actual dance floor instead of just some open space in front of and beside the dj stand. the drink prices were INSANE. we paid $18 for two drinks which normally cost us $9.50 at the LL and other places. that was way outta line since they were not particularly any better, although mine was so strong it just about blew my head off. and, just like i feared, they *really* did not enforce the dress code. despite the fact that i might have looked like "Pedro", i was still dressed better than a decent proportion of the crowd. and plenty of non-white around. sheesh. i mean, sometimes it *is* fun to throw a dress-up, themed, party. but, what's the point if you don't enforce it? and what the hell is wrong with dallasites that they can't play along? they did not have the miss naked america contest, as promised on the flyers. other than that, it was pretty fun. i will definitely attend another dvip party to see how they do without the nakedla folks. sinc!
