Talent and music wise, this event was simply incredible from beginning to end, a virtual "Breakbeat Christmas" to quote Kelsey last night. However, the support that Dallas shows for such world class talent left me feeling embarrassed for the performers. At the peak of Chris Carter's set, there were less than 20 people on the dancefloor, about half of whom were dancing.

Now, perhaps I'm just an aging EDM addict. I fell in love with the scene in Dallas at age 16 and I will turn 32 shortly. There was a time here where such an all-star lineup would have people fighting to get in. In fact, there are cities in the US where this is still the case. Next week the Lawgiverz are playing at Seven. Can you imagine the crowd if they played, say, San Fran? I'm almost scared to think of the turnout here next Friday. Last night, there more people watching "Dodgeball" (wtf?!) on the projector than there were losing their skulls when Chris dropped the Roxiller mix of "D-Town". Are you kidding me? Before I write a novel here, can anyone explain the lack of support that this town gives to top-bill talent? Here are my thoughts on the lineup:

Kelsey: Superb set, really loved it. Great mixing and super track selection, some real choice cuts. Very well done, and thanks alot for the sweet disc!

SOTEG: Nonstop barrage of fierce broken beats. Just what you'd expect from the man. Only my second time seeing him perform, brilliant and very unique.

Carbon Community: Brought the sickness as always. Cody abused the drum kit as usual and I loved the new track "Doctor Spectacles". The sparse crowd hollered pretty loud during the tempo change in the "White Room" remix...brilliant!

Chris Carter: Oh my, simply incredible. Massive set as usual. He played a bunch of original material including his new track "Walkie Talkie". I loved hearing that tune on a big system. A+

FFS: Wow! Superb breaks with plenty of energy. I loved the intro he used, then he went right into his exclusive mix of the Chems' "Galvanize". Just when I thought the Abe Duque mix was good, then I hear this. Again, Wow!

Sorry for the long review, but this show deserved it!

Agreed man....I got there about 11:55 last night with my girl Erica and I was expecting a line out the door when we got there.(had to work late) There was nothing like that at all. I was mad i had to miss Kelsey set, but got to see Carbon Community from start to finish.......Dave and Cody....what you guys bring to the scene not only in Dallas....but all over the country WOW!!! Headliner right there....

Then Chris Carter came on and my gosh my pants were vibrating from all the bass..... Nice track selection and nice mixes.....

We had to leave before Future Funk squad to go promote at Crave for our Sunday night shows....but I am pretty sure they were dope!!

Nice to see Mindy and Storm E, Kelsey and Robin, Josh, Cody and Dave, Kelley Reverb, Seth Lowerey....and anyone else i missed.....

I got there just as FF was going on and let me say this .. The Squad laid it down proper and the performance was nothing short of perfect. THANK YOU Sean for having the Funk Squad out to play, I really enjoyed the music and it was worth the time and trouble to see the show !!

I was on the phone until 3:00am trying to find a ride downtown... but I just live too far north... and my girl lives an hour and a half away from me (her car was in the shop). I can't believe I didn't get out there. Sorry guys! Look for a special guest tag in the mainroom at Afterlife though... It could be interesting!

Why do the promoters of parties always choose to have too many events on the same night...where you know that your type of crowd would go to you party or the other one..or the third one.....or are all of you guys enemies and purposely try and book the same night and try to see who gets the most people? no wonder they lose money.....

But anyway...this is just me talking and i am stupid and not aware of how the system works so i bet it is a lot more complicated thank this

somebody please explain

Those of you that weren't able to make it out to Seven this past Friday, truly missed out on a BADASS Show. I got there early to see my boy Kelsey FX and he straight ROCKED it! There may not have been many people in the place, but he had those that were there DANCING! He mos def set the mood for the night. I'm proud of you sweetheart.

Then SOTEG got on! Unfortunately for me, during his first song I was forced to leave and briefly head home to take care of some things that I forgot to do before I came up there. I got back just in time to see Dallas' GOLDEN Boys Dave and Cody. You guys are AWESOME!! Dope set as usual. My only complaint is that it felt like it flew by too fast. You guys deserve all the success that is coming your way and it is so refreshing to see humble you both are remaining in the process.

Next up was Chris Carter. I was super excited about seeing him again because when he was here last time in December I believe, he blew me away. The same can be said for his performance this Friday. He dropped bomb after bomb and it was disappointing to me that there were not many people there to witness how great this guy truly is. Not only is he a talented dj/producer, he is also a genuinely NICE and gracious guy. I just hope next time he rolls through Dallas, he gets to play for the kind of crowd he deserves.

Actually, that applies for all the djs that played on Friday!!!!

And as for Future Funk Squad....DAMN! He came out swinging! His set was incredible. I was extremely impressed. I'm looking forward to his return to Dallas. Despite the turnout, I had a great time.
