 | PRINCE~Set the Jacket ON FIRE!!!
OH MY GOD! Talk about one after party not to miss! it was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn tonight at the Red jacket! Words can NOT, I repeat CAN NOT describe HOW AMAZING Price was tonight! Ok, so I get there at 9 expecting there to be a huge line and thier ISNT! I was HUH? I asked the door guy and he says thier not letting anyone in till after 10, so then Tabby and her friends get there....then Mark gets there and we go the little pizza shack across the street to kill time and grub on sum pizza of coarse... So we eat and then Fernie shows up and we proceed to enter The Jacket..This was my first time there so i really was diggin the inside of the place, looked so damn kool...everything was going on...we saw the stage in the main room where PRINCE was to TEAR IT UP later on that night...SO we lounge around, talking about music and "raving" and making fun of other clubs and same ol same ol.... We asked one of the guys when PRINCE was going to go on, they told around 1 so at 12 we staked our place at the Right of the stage, near the entrance/exit...so 1 oclock comes...1:20....1:30...then FINALLY around1:40-1:45 the lights go out and this ANGEL appears at the top of the stairway near the stage... it was him....the was the MAN...the LEGEND....the TRUE ICON... PRINCE So the opening number was a lil song from Dallas' own ERYKA BADU! And YES she was wearing EXTENSIONS that were so LONG the reach her ANKLE! I was like DAMN! First fake dredlocks and now EXTENSIONS! Once the song was over...that's when the REAL MAGIC happen! He opens up with this EAR SPLITTIN', ACID JAZZED, GUITAR LAYED SONG THAT would make Jimmi Hendrix RISE outta his grave! OH MY GOD my ears were BLESSED with this EXTREME guitar work from The Man himself! I was hooked! Never mind that my feet hurt from standin and fighting for my spot for 2 hours...or that my back was giving out from strain...once PRINCE hit the stage, my pain went away  So he does like two opening song that's totaly kicking my ass! Then they bring Bernie Miles(?) I think the guys name was, and he proceed to do sum skattin and be boopin then him and PRINCE got into it...just skattin and doobeee dooobeedooin and it was just stellar! HE then slows it down to a more like JAM session than really anything elseand changes the first guitar for a second one...jams on that one...jams on the bass guitar after that...it was just ear splitting stuff that AWESOME! It was soooo out of this WORLD! Then it happens.... He picks up his signature guitar, that's a purple guitar CUSTOM MADE to replicate the PRINCE logo that he once went by, and JUST LETS US HAVE IT! My right ear will NEVER be the same I told Tabby..."I want that guitar" I told Fernie..."If that guitar EVER goes on sale...on ebay or for charity...I WILL OWN IT! I dont care if I go into debt for a 100 years...it will be MINE!" then a lil after 3, the show is over..the lights go out and PRINCE walks off stage and has once again proven that NO ONE...and I mean NO ONE...can ever say they've been to a PRINCE concert and havent been touched or change....I know I have, and for the better. Love and I am, Karlos P.S./Disclaimer: I read the other post about people paying $30 to get in...Im not going to say how much I paid, and I dont think it'd be wise if anyone else said anything....Tabby, Mark or Fernie |

I'm sitting there at work, with my watch telling me its 9:00, and I thinking "It would be nice to head down to the Red Jacket and catch this show.....especially since its down the street from me....even MORE special cause its free." I get out of work and drive by RJ just to check out the scene thinking I'm gonna see a fiasco...and  there was noone there....not a soul. I call Karlos and he tells me hes just getting there. So I go back home to scoop up Yvonne and head back to the Jacket. We get in line and after waiting a few minutes are allowed in. - Sorry Karlos, I couldnt help it , I spilled the beans as to how much we payed after reading everyone pissing on Nicole....- We get in and hung out for awhile. Afterwards we get in our spots. Karlos is right......Prince came down the steps and did a number with ERYKA BADU! It was pretty sureal and at the same time good to see this pop icon on stage right there in front of you. Words cannot describe how much talent this man has. He can do it ALL! Im serious. He was skattin......he was playing bass...singin.....and he kills it on the electric guitar. I was overall impressed with not only Prince's talent but the fact that we got into RJ to check him out for almost pocket change... My only regret is not having gone to the concert....cause you know he obviously got down....there as well. You gotta give props to a RJ and Nicole for setting this up. This club is doing it all. Theyre bringin in big talent and each time keep surprising me again and again at who they keep bringin.... Thanks for twisting my arm Karlos  and good seeing everyone out as well Mark, T@bby and company.....peace |

Damn, that sounds fun. A few years back when we lived in Minnasota, my mom dated one of the guys that was in princes band or management or something, so I ended up going to the production studio (Paisley Park? i think) and i met him a couple times but all i remember is seeing a shitload of purple and some weird ass people. Maybe thats why im so crazy :-P

| Prince blew my mind....
After last night, I have the newest and upmost respect for this man!! OH my gawd, it was absolutely amazing to say the least!! After he came on, I didn't even mind that we had been waiting 3hrs to see him. I must admit, it was not what I was expecting at all--I was waiting to hear some "pussy control" all up in that place, but instead i had the pleasure of seeing/hearing Prince tear it the fuck up on those guitars!! What a truly talented man! The first song with Erika Badu was a great treat also...and I almost couldn't believe it was actually her. Such awesome work--the man is a natural!! I've never used that word to describe anyone, but i think it suits him best. I was in awe at how passionate he was while playing and how that projected through the music--it moved me! Did anyone else think that drum solo was absolutely wikid!?! Oh man, I can barely describe how last night made me feel....and I will continue to kick myself ALL day long for having to leave early. For some reason, around 3am, it dawns on me that i have a business law assignment/paper due at 11 this morning. So i grab my friends, haul ass to take them home, then manage get pulled over for going 80 in a 60! oops...luckily this time, i'd only had 2 drinks. and, i don't know why but the cops sure do seem to like me these days! I told him exactly why i was in such a hurry and the good man let me slide. *i'm really pushin' my luck *What a phenonmenal night...this one is definately going down in the books!! and to top it off, I could not have been in better company... peace, tabby |

Prince is definitly tha man! I dug how he didnt play any hits....it was a full on jam session. erikah was tight too! how classy of Prince to hook up with Dallas artist when in Dallas.....very proper. anyone go to that Erikah Badu jam session a couple months ago at the canyon club with her, talib, common and a bunch of others....last night reminded me alot of that. cool shit. |
