![]() | Pulse•Rev Paul and Taki @ Bacanos
I am going to keep this one short and sweet because I am a little fuzzy but let me just say, if you missed this party, you missed out! After a really long weekend (Spirituality, a Birthday Party, a sinus infection and the Kid Rock show) I was so tired I could hardly stand up but I got my act together, got dressed and hit the road. We got there early so the place was totally empty. It also stank to high heaven (because of a Foam Party several days prior) and the staff was busy trying to clear the air. I noticed right off that Bacanos is the perfect dance club. It is a big place with a good atmosphere. The club owners aren't concerned about what outsiders think and welcomed us with open arms. It is perfect spot for dancing because there is so much space. The have no dress code and aren't interested in policing the crowd. The staff is friendly and they are all about service. They really seemed to want me to have a good time. I didn't feel like I was being watched, like at some clubs, and the spaciousness of the place made me feel really free to move. It needs a little work on decor, but I bet I know an artist that could do a really groovy mural on the big wall (ahem). Rev Paul went on first and warmed things up with some really nice tracks. I don't know how to explain his type of mixing because I have never heard it from anyone else. All I can tell you is it's good and I am not just saying that because I am prejudiced. Kid Rock says, "If it's good, you'll feel it" and man, did I feel it. As more people started to show, I really felt the vibe and I was sorry I was stuck at the front, helping to card folks. I really wanted to dance but I couldn't leave my post, you know I didn't know a lot of the people who showed but let me give shout-outs to those I know: my boy, A and his girl; Luis (mmmmm hhhhmmm yes, THAT LUIS, ladies); Jamie, Graham and the rest of the gang. That reminds me, if you see me out and I seem quiet (I have heard this is the case). Introduce yourself! I saw so many faces I didn't recognize and I hate that! My Dad came with us (isn't it nice to have supportive parents)? But he hasn't drank in a year so the drinks he had at the bar did him in. He was passed out in my car by midnight and he is now hungover and not a very happy camper (parents today...!!!) Anyway, Taki went Tribal on our asses. As predicted, [raises eyebrow] he did not show off his alleged "Pop n Lock" dance routine so I think we all know now that he is full of it But he hit us with some really nice grooves and I guess that's really all we can ask for. I mean, there are Dancers and there are DJs and ne'er the twain shall meet. Rev Paul went on again around midnight and really slammed some hard grooves. Tammy MC'ed for a while and Joom gets props for the fab light show. Anyway, dancing on Sunday makes me want to switch to working nights so I could sleep late on Monday. But if I did that, I wouldn't have all this…[looks around desk, puzzled]. In Love and Light Betty |

It is a shame there were not more people to see Taki, but I am planning on having him back. What was the wicked record with the Billy Idol sample in it? I hope that more of you come out this Sunday. The Bass Pressure Radio guys throw some outstanding records. Lots of breaks. You should all be so lucky as to have someone like Betty in your life. |
