| So Sunday night I went alone to The Church.
I went alone (the missus was sleeping) to discuss business, and I hung out afterwards for 30 minutes or so drinking beers and taking in the view and the music. I had a damn good time. I had quite a few recolections (or flashbacks) from my days at Numbers in Houston back in the 80's and 90's... mostly when I heard 'Dig It' and 'Get Down Make Love'... and in the other room I heard 'Oh L'Amour' and 'The Promise'... but what REALLY surprised me is... I found some of those goth chics were really, really sexy. I think I will make it a point to go back soon. |

I wondered about that, but Don told me later in the night they tend to get more progressive and into some newer stuff... I didn't stick around that long though. It's kinda hard to change it up alot when you are playing classics though. I am sure there are people who say that about me and my Funk/Soul... Last edited by JustMike; 06-30-05 at 05:53 PM.

there are some who want The Church to be a retro club and there are others (me) who want The Church to play the oldies as well as the newer stuff.... about 3-5 years ago there was new music being played amidst the older stuff and that was mainly due to there being a ton of great new music being released.... the last couple of years the only band releasing new stuff that is good is De/vision and it isn't really club material goth music has pretty much died off as far as club material goes... it's gone to more industrial and modern synthpop... and the modern synthpop has died down as far as good club material.... so it's just new industrial and there has been some good stuff but nearly as much as 3-5 years ago |

obviously they do... they also have the tendency to have a revolving crowd.. there are alot of regulars but they also have new groups coming in all the time... so they can keep playing similiar playlists and still make people happy i just like more variety... it's not good when you can predict what the next song is going to be before the dj plays it |

HA! Funny you said that. I walked out of the office and NIN 'Get Down Make Love' was playing... and I thought, "Wow... I would play 'Dig It' by Skinny Puppy after this"... and sho nuff (and I don't mean from the Last Dragon)... it came right on.

that's alright... If I play 'Brick House' you can damn well expect 'Play That Funky Music Whiteboy' to come after... if you hear me play 'Jamaica Funk', you will most likely hear 'Fantastic Voyage' after it. some songs just work way too good together and it's hard to stray! I'd like to go play The Church one night.

From what I understand the regulars are opposed to new music or at least a variety of both, new and old.
