Anybody besides me and Shala go out and see all the great music and art? This was definitely one of the more entertaining and fun evenings I've had in a while. After working all day Saturday I went home and took a nap until about 730, at which point Shala came and picked me up and took me out to the festival. When we get there I see nothing but tons of people of all ages, seriously it was newborns to the elderly. The food smelled wonderful, the beer was flowing heavily into the stomachs of people all over the place, the music was extremely upbeat and got the entire crowd to simply get up and dance like nobody cared. We saw the Boneshakers for about 30 minutes who went on before Brave Combo, and were an extremely talented blues outfit. I really wasn't expecting to be completely taken in by their music but I slowly found myself dancing along and having a good time. We headed up to the square after their performance and ate a pizza at J&J's and walked back to the festival. Brave Combo had just gone on and I could hardly believe how many people were pushed up so close to the stage. Their polka stylings were extremely fun and had what seemed like a few hundred people dancing all over the place. Never did I think that polka could be so damned fun. And the Hokey Pokey.... now I know that song was something I only heard at the skating rink years ago, but Brave Combo makes you simply have to dance and be goofy with everyone else because their rendition of it is too catchy. I definitely recommend checking these guys out if you have a chance. And make it out to next years festival if you can; its free, has great music, art, crafts, dancing, and lots of fun. |

This was truelly great! It was sooooooooooo much fun and it was FREE ! Well the food was overpriced, but what do you expect at a "community event"? At any event for that matter. I got to see old women tap dance and shake their butts to "god bless texas", I saw more old women belly dance, and I got to pet tons of cute puppies and dogs. It seemed like everyone there had a dog, and most of the dogs were REALLY big. I'm talkin there were at least 10 great danes. I love petting dogs ![]() On Sunday I got to see the 2 O'Clock lab jazz band perform..and they were great. I HEART JAZZ. Much lub for the fair. shala

My ballet school had to perform Saturday afternoon....maybe you saw me dance and you didn't know it. Brave Combo is the shiznit. They are the most fun band ever. We go hear them play every year at the Arts Fest and at the Christmas Tree Lighting on the Square. They've won several grammy's for best polka band and have been nominated for other categories too. I heard they are like #1 in Japan. They are just a bunch of cool old guys who still play free concerts, drink and smoke with ya afterwards, and volunteer all their free time to local charities. The world needs more people like the guys in BraveCombo.
