Blank & Jones @ LL

I almost didn't make it to this due to being on 2 hours of sleep last night, waking up at 6am this morning and working a 9 hour day and not being able to afford the show. Thanks to an extra comp my friend had I was able to attend (YAY!).

Got there right after they started and didn't stay the whole time, but they were great, really. The one guy who thought he was Jesus really got on my nerves, but the other one in the white shirt rocked. He just looked like he was having a great time, smiling, trying to get the crowd going, plus he was SUPER cute!!!! I've been fans of B&Js since I first strated listening to EDM so I'm very happy I got a chance to see them live.

Thanks for bringing them back! Oh, and happy b-day Mike! Hope you had a really great time!

Damnit, Gretchen. You beat me to it. And, damnit, Gretchen for getting floor seats to Depeche Mode.

crowd participation is a must...

and I guess it sucks erica that you weren't first, but I've learned that it's hard to be number 1...easier to be sloppy seconds and even harder to be third...

but I think I was talking about something else...

it's even funnier that you started your own post...just so you can be #1

Yay, I can bring two friends!

but how good was the music...?

Somebody told me they saw Blank and Jones live somewhere in Europe and that they sucked ass. Like, the track selection was good, but the set didn't flow, and the mixing was TERRIBLE.

How was all this last night? Any good?

They rocked it proper last night. Jayson Gold was awesome too. My favorite song B&J played was Sander Van Doorn's remix of the Police - Sending Out an S.O.S.

I had an awesome time at B&J last night!

review:

Meximike- good mixing and nice track selection. I only heard like 3 tracks though.. Happy Birfday bruva!

Mary- As always, solid mixing and nice job on moving into some more trancy stuff to set up the evening more..It sucks you played Carte Blanche b/c I so was going to! Who knew that you would be thinking of pulling some classics out of the bag.

Me-I had some technical difficulties but people still seemed to bob their heads..Thank you so much for the oppurtunity!

Blank and Jones- very nice set! smooth mixing with alot of crowd interaction! Funny you said that about the "jesus pose" gretch b/c we always laugh about that as well! I was doing it up there for shits and giggles! anyways.. I would love for B&J to come back through again soon!

Big thanks to Lizard Lounge,Steve of Wet Grooves (very nice to meet/hang with ya),Meximike and everyone else who had a part in the night! btw, WHERE WERE THE HOT ASS RUBBER GIRLS???

Sess- Nice job on bringing up the rear of the evening! Sorry everyone bailed to the ferry show across the lot! I stayed and i'm proud to say it! Very nice powerful house set! Think and Chunky bass throughout! Dont worry about them shutting you down early..risk you gotta take on being the closer! Great job and have fun at Love Parade!

I give last night a 7 out of 10 due to my sorry performance on the decks. otherwise it would be a 8 or 9!

see ya next time!

Swing by the dugout tonight if you wanna hear me make it up to ya on the decks!

yeah man, Blank and Jones rocked that shit proper.....plus when I held up my "Cream" vinyl they gave me this look like "holy shit, OG blank and jones fan in the house!" and then signed it, so that was cool. I also went nuts when they play PvD - The other side (martin roth mix). That was tight.

Oh and Jayson, I thought your set was awesome, you played some bangin tunes. I saw you get frustrated when that oceanlab track started skipping on the CDJ. I was like "oh fuck I hope he doesnt butcher this." but you got out of it quick instead of trying to save it..good call. Was it the CD??? I've never had CDJ1000s skip like that before, especially MK2s.

I didnt go over to ferry but I assume it was equally as cool. I met him in Canada a few years back, super chill guy; and his tunes rock too.

anyways, good times. THANKS DALLAS!!!!

Blank and Jones are from Germany. They have been around for a long time. They are responsible for some "classic" trance productions in the past. Cream and Desire being some. Trance elitist may say they are on the cheesy side of trance and mixing is not always great. Not my personal opinion though. I really like some of their tracks. I would have been to this show had Ferry not been at Seven. I thinks it's great that whoever promised to get them back here after Wetgrooves and did just that was pretty cool.

No problem mang, glad you had a good B-day.
Kinda funny...I was talking to Jaspa ("Jones") after the show and he said that was the first time Final Scratch calibrated with no problems for him....I should have offered to be his official Final Scratch roadie/tech support.
