Bassnectar, Kelsey FX and Manny @ the copa in Austin

Man what a night…
The people…. the sounds…. the costumes….. the GoGo Dancers…
After the longer than usual drive to Austin Kelsey and I made it just in time to catch dinner with Lorin, Arashi, Mary, and Josh.
After some great food and some amazing dinner conversation it was off the Copa to make sure everything was properly setup… by the time we got there, there was a team of people decorating and working on the sound after helping where we could Kelsey and I took off to drop off our stuff and get changed for the party.

We made it back to the Copa around 10:30 or so and DJ Manny was up and he was tearing up the place with already a fairly respectable sized crowd for that early in the night…
the sound system was AWESOME!!!!!
Bassnectar went on around midnight or so and the place was seriously jumping… and PACKED!!!! Around 2AM Kelsey took over with a tough job since the place was packed and he had to keep it that way… and let me tell you he kept the place packed until almost 3:30AM when management shut everything down… the party was supposed to end at 3AM and it was going so crazy they let it go.

The crowd loved Kelsey some of them thought that he was touring with Bassnectar, one girl though Kelsey was the headliner and when she found out Bassnectar played before Kelsey she exclaimed “Oh really?!?!?! Well He was good too” referring to Bassnectar.

Arashi said “Kelsey is definitely coming back down to play parties for him”

If you don’t believe any of this go check out the pictures @ www.drinklocal.com this is the way parties need to go off.. and there is no reason we shouldn’t be throwing down like this in Dallas as well.

I wish more Dallas peeps made it out there so they could be inspired like Kelsey and I were… hopefully we’ll do something with that inspiration.. 

oh yeah and we talked to Manny on Saturday and he said he plans on making trips up to Dallas.. so maybe reunion of Kelsey and Manny may be in order :-)

Yo John, thanks for throwing the opportunity my way.
It really was a great party! It seemed like everyone was feeling the energy from the start. The place was packed and the dance floor was going strong by the middle of Manny’s opening set. Bassnectar exploded like a bomb and I don’t think there was a static body in the house. And I was blown away that the crowd was going strong till the end. If the venue hadn’t shut us down, I think it would have gone a lot longer.
Arashi and all the Groovepharm people had the place looking awesome, the gogo dancers were a trip, every dj played a wide variety of sounds, and the people were up for every bit of it….ooooh, and the sound system....jeez! that thing was amazing!...what else can you ask for?

Damn Kelsey was that you throwin down after Bassnectar's set?? If so, you played an excellent set and the circle that got started out on the dancefloor was pure Austin madness. That was an awesome party aside from the fact it smelled like a sweaty headshop in there.

oh yeah... I think all the regular LA/SF suspects will be playing Groovepharm @ Flipside this year.. along with Kelsey (he just isn't quite sure yet... but I figure I have a few months to convince him)

If you missed the Bassnectar show you still got a chance to see Ooah and Neptune and few others.... Amazing DJs as well

yeah, dj dojo lol. he's good peeps. i hear he plays hip hop and retro at some of his regular gigs, but it was some of the best dubbed out funk i've heard in a while on friday night

Good to see that you are still getting out Kels.. I've got the 24th & 25th in lockdown but until then looking for a new job, got any leads ?
