wax opening night prt 1

hats off fellas!!! got there nice and late due to being xtremly weak, but already enjoyed it!!

trevor, as usual sir, nice set.

the spot, has a lot of old feel to it, good ole vibe, but HELLO, real bathrooms, system sounded good, upper roof and side decked out, nice, love the records on the wall, but DANG, the bar idea is sooooo cool!

gr8 2 c 4-peace, alvin, james, heck all you mofos under an old familiar roof!

have a blast tonight w/ halo, c you folks on tuesday!!

damn I must have left right when you got there, I had blast and saw people that I have honestly not seen in years and years all at the same place, everything about the night was just great, this shit is exciting for most people in dallas I believe. I"ll be out nightly.

the girls bathroom was cooler than the guys (rich & i were hanging out back there poking our heads in). our sink bowl had a brown & black swirling pattern & there were bouquets of fresh roses on the counter!
i really enjoyed hanging out with amber & amy, and kelle marie is hot dude. i hope i look like that after a couple of kids one day.

loved the bar, putting rows of rigs under the glass is a really cool design idea.

yeah.... just, yeah. That was a great night. Gerald, man... congratulations. I know that feeling of opening a new spot for the first time, and Amy and I are really, really excited for you. The place looks great. The turntables in the bar... brilliant (despite all the morons saying 'what a waste maaaaannnnn... somebody could uuussse those') The place is so eye-pleasing. High-five on the bathrooms. So nice. And the sound... wow... I walked in and saw it and thought to myself, "I would have used HALF this sound for this size place"... but nope - 6 tops and two subs and they only had half of them working... THUMPIN sound.

I dunno really what else to say but congrats.

Trevor did a great job. People danced all night. I had a blast playing. Marcus fed me Jager. Everybody smiled.


Put it this way - I got home and had a small piece of styrofoam in my belly-button and I have no idea whatsoever how it got there or when I was around styrofoam. That right there says it was a fun time. Wish I could make it back tonight.

Definently a dope setup, I'm looking forward to more events there. I had fun boogying to Trevor's groove, and the sound was definently thumbs up.

Alot of people used to dog the Sand Bar but I always had a soft spot for it in my heart. It was one of the last places that had a real underground vibe to it and I liked that. I don't like a lot of the pretentiousness of other clubs. I always felt like the people at Sand Bar were there for the music (what other reason was there..lol). I'm glad to say WAX has retained it's street cred while cleaning up it's image. The name evens signifies what it's all about. Love the blue color of the walls, the light sconces, the framed records, the groovy light thing behind the bar, the remodeled tile bathrooms with the glass sinks, the corner patio, the kickin' sound, but what tripped me out the most was the 3 pair of 1200 turntables inside the bar under the glass (turned on and spinning mind you). It's a stroke of genius, or complete madness depending on how you look at it, but either way it's brilliant and a great tie-in with the clubs concept. One tt had Disco's Revenge on it and another had Maggie's Last Party.

WAX has great potential. I think it's what Dallas needed and I'll be spending lots of time out there. I danced my buttocks off to Trevor's set. I really enjoyed it, plus the free drinks....say wha!!!! :drink: Good turnout and a very successful opening night. The best part is, it should only get better with time.

Good to see Tim, Jose, Gary, Sean, Landon, Chris, Alvin, Mark, Kelle, Ronin, John, Mike, and so many others out and supporting. I hope to see a lot of you out there on Sunday for the Mr. Bristle show.

Wow I felt like a kid all over again! I love the new look... it's not swanky by any means but it's definitely solid and that's what makes it cool. Definitely gives it a more underground vibe if there is one still available...lol. It still has the charm and memories of the old joint but with a safer, cleaner environment. It's like the sand bar all grown up! The new dj booth is tops and the sound is great. (No more splicing wires for sound in the rain!)

I wish I could be there tonight but will be at Minc with Lady D. (It will be her birthday tonight)... BUT I do hope we can arrange an afterparty :wink wink:
