Dj Shadow's Record Release Party

Yes, it was a nice lil shindig thrown by M*C*A records at the Zubar...

Party started around 7:30, cause well, that's when I got there
Right away I am greeted by one of the NICE females I have met in a LONG while Amy was her name. Apparently they always throw record release parties and she is the representive...about 5 mins there, I have a nice drink in my hand and am on my way to enjoying the night.

So my friend Jose gets there with the break dancing crew, they are the entertainment and entertaining they are! These boys do some AMAZING things! I was like WOW! and well on my way to enjoying my 3rd rum and coke by the time they got there SO Jose and the krew put on a good show...

Now onto Dj Shadow's new cd...all I can say is WOW! It's everything Ive been looking for lately! A Dj that incorporates some live guitars into his work and tracks 7 and 8 which are named "Mongrel..." into "...Meets his Maker" all I can say is DAMN! THEY KICK ASS! By far my fave two tracks!
You people MUST GO OUT AND BUY THIS ALBUM! It is WORTH IT!

Well I guess thats all my review...GO OUT AND BUY THE ALBUM! it's called DJ Shadow's "The Private Press", it's in STORES NOW!

Sure I dont get out till 9 but still I wouldve made a genuine effort to head out to this.

Ive been reading reviews of this album for weeks. Seeing Dj Shadow this and Dj Shadow that in all kinds of mags......

I'm gonna remember this bud...

I totally dropped the ball on this one.

I've been waiting for a new one of Shadow's to come out since I bought Endtroducing in '96...............

And to think it was under my nose this entire time.

I went to Zubar last night around 10:30. What time did this thing end cuz there was no dj shadow when I got there (but there was ntrain who's just as good as anybody else on the planet). I haven't heard any of Shadow's stuff except for some DM remixes from a while back that absolutely love. Anyways.... what time did this thing go till????

Well I left at about 10, maybe a lil before, so Im guessin it was over at 10. Although, I did see when Dj NTrain got there so I assumed they'd be taking over around 10ish so there...thats kinda all I know.

I also forgot to mention I got a copy of of the latest release from the Funky Green Dogs and I must say: EXCELLENT! It's kinda like house with a latin feel to it, a definte pick up to play at partys to get shyt started off right

Afterwards I scooted on over to Tower and picked up both singles for Marilyn Manson's version of "Tainted Love" I got the domestic and import, I snagged a vinyl too...Daft Punk's Discovery album for $14.99, Im GUESSING it was a missprint since all the others were label for $18.99 BUT WHO CARES!

Fernie: If I had know it was going to be a record release party for Dj Shadow's new album, The Private Press(in STORES NOW!) I would've invite you, but I didint know till I got there so that's my excuse and Im sticking to it.

Really? I thought his new cd was horrible. It goes ALL over the place and is very distracting to listen to. It's like he was chillin and his record label called up and said "dude, what are you doing, your CD comes out in three weeks!" And he's like "oh shit" so he digs through all his old unreleased stuff and throws it onto a cd and there ya go, Shadow's new album.
