From what I've read it sounds like they were playing off a DAT or similar. Nobody's said explicitly though, so take that with a grain of salt.

1: they didnt play live, it was just a dj set...that i could deal with.

2: both of them showed up, only one got behind the decks, the other dude with the dreadlocks just stood there, waste of a flight right there.

3: not only did they not play live, the one that was behind the decks played a series of PRERECORDED mixes on cd that were about 7-12 minutes long each, with 4-6 tracks that were already mixed so that he didnt have to mix himself.

4: not only did he not mix the tracks that were already mixed together, he acted like he was mixing them while the track was playing, i noticed that he kept cueing up one of the cd decks (you could tell it was paused because the play button was flashing, i couldnt belive it) while the other deck hadtrack after track, already mixed, coming out of it.

5: when he did switch cd's, he just threw the fader up on whichever channel he was bringing in, hot-cued the new prerecorded mix right as the other one was ending, and i mean had literally run out, and switched channels without really mixing.

6: he stopped about 55 minutes into the set, right after someone went on stage and called the guy out that was just standing there, dont know if that was a coincidence, or if he was really done. i thought i saw spock motion to him to keep going, but he shook his head, so spock started spinning again.

the prerecorded mixes were programmed very well, but he obviously wasnt mixing live, and put on an act. im not the only one that noticed.

the vibe was still pretty thick though. its amazing how educated so many people claim to be and didnt notice. i didnt even really try to notice till i heard all these sick mixes and he hadnt even changed channels yet, so i went upstairs just to see how many channels were lit up on the mixer...sure enough, one at a time while i heard a series of tracks that i knew very well.

DAAAAAMN that stinks. I have heard those guys are really talented. I wonder if something was lost while traveling. I can't imagine they would do this on purpose.

since they dont have a work visa, they cant really come over here and perform, only visit. i think they got in trouble for that once already, so they come over with laptops and cds now. apparently they couldnt even bring headphones.

richard (the one with the locks) told me that they intend on buying gear here in the U.S. and keeping it here so they can come over without equipment and still play. still doesnt excuse faking a performance like that, its actually kind of insulting after seeing what they normally do.

i KNOW tony is a good dj, i dont understand why he did that.

I just wanna say big ups to jeff spock and trek for playing SICK ass tunes before fp. Nice one guys!!! Yeah was dissapointed immediately when i saw that homie w/ the dreadlocks didn't have his sax thingy. i didn't really notice he was faking mixes..but i did notice that some of them were pre-recorded..but then again i was chilling w/the milf in the back. i wish i could get paid to show up, play a couple records, then just chill and drink the rest of the night..i bet the promoters were kind of pissed..oh well. the next shows will DEF. make up for this.!!!!!

I'm not sure I have ever seen a DJ get busted playing pre mixed cd's while acting like they are mixing. I dont understand why guys that can mix
would try to do something like that. Maybe Dallas wasn't ready....or maybe
they dont give a shit.

This was extremely disappointing to me. They were one of my big inspirations when I got into all of this (not their style of music necessarily, more their energy) and now I find out that they are frauds. Now what's next, someone going to tell me Santa Claus is fake too?
