![]() | MSTRKRFT, Digweed, and RedEye
Great sets all around. Scottie got it jacking with some dirty dirty. Mstrkrft were really good live djs too. That sound system was perfect for that hard electro sound. The hour set, while sprinkled with some tasty tech house sounded a lot like listening to their album though. They probably played every song on it except "She's good for business." That club can suck my nuts though. There were some good people in Addison, but that whole bottle service poser bullshit vibe was also very prevalent. I wanted to grab some ear plugs out of my truck, but couldn't because there was no re-entry. I realize Addison is its own town and its dry or whatever, but I felt treated like I was at some shady after hours joint, but the dirty wannabe ravers were replaced with 30k millionaire juice boxes. Eye Candy ++ though. eh. all in all, it was fun. Oh Digweed was nice too. I just wasn't as in to it as I was in the Delta Heavy days. Good try though. Educate the burbs and make that $, I guess. Just won't get any more of mine.

i went just to hear Mstrkrft and they were great.Nice and tuff.Problem most of their set was very predictable or heard/got.I like the Jason-Rocktron track coming in during it went so well witheir own track before in the mix.Was surprised to hear Shake and pop(i think its cashmere, been so long since i looked at my own copy).Otherwise first time i heard Red-eye(i caught the last 15 min) and he had some nice dirty stuff going on..very impressed. Venue was great but after Msrtkrft set i wanted to go grab my phone which i left in my jeep to see where my wife was and when coming back they said no pass outs. The Retarded doorman who was no einstein wanted to get into an argument about it, i been going to long this scene to worry or argue with someone who had a IQ of prob 35 so i left and joined my wife and her friends. If the door policy stays like that i will make sure our large crowd never supports a venue like that.I been to a lot of the worlds best clubs from San Fran,London,Ibiza,Athens,SA and they certainly dont share that door policy. So KArma should join the new age and think about theat policy as i saw many other people being refused back during the night mumbling about never going back. Othwerwise the event was great just pity for the venue

Good crowd, powerful sound system, need to always carry a pair of ear plugs just in case it is too loud for your tastes...I noticed several people with fingers in their ears at times....definately need to have ins/outs policy. They have a food menu with some light snack items/sushi which is stated on their website, but apparently isn't always available every night and it wasn't available last night, need to either be consistent with the offering or have ins and outs so one can walk next door and get a little something to eat. I think the whole experience will be smoother in the future if the people throwing the show (in this case Full Access) has a logistics meeting in advance of the day of the show, not at 9pm when the doors are supposed to be open for the show. The staff at Karma isn't familiar with the electronic dance music crowd and logistics of getting people checked and in the door and who is supposed to do what. This can all be sorted out prior to the day of the show. It is a great venue to showcase world class DJs, just hope they can get the operations logistics ironed out.

Great venue, bad location. The drinks were $8 a pop and they measusred the booze like a f-ing airport bar. The sound system and the music was on point. There was plenty of room to dance and move around. Digweed's set was short, but flawless as usual. A two hour set by John is like a appetizer before the entree. All in all, it was a good night as I hooked up with old comrades. Why is there is no club in Dallas like Karma?

I like that the venue was big enough to hold the crowd without everyone feeling packed in. But the staff at Karma are rude as fuck. I was sitting on the arm of a couch and a staff guy comes over and tells me not to sit like that. That's fine, so I stopped. Then I was sitting on my knees on the couch talking to the people behind me. The guy comes over and grabs me and yells at me saying, I told you not to sit like that! I said he told me not to sit on the arm. He says either I sit right or I leave. This was within the first 30 minutes of getting there so it almost ruined the vibe for me the entire night. Especially as he kept walking by me giving me the evil eye to make sure I was sitting down properly in my seat. But once Digweed came on I was mostly on hte dance floor anyway so he could kiss my ass. I saw the guy a few more times and I got the impression he was waiting for me to do something to give him cause to kick me out. But dispite all that, I had a great time. Red Eye's set was great, MSTRKFT was awesome and of course Digweed was great. Overall, I liked the venue because of its size, and the staff there can kiss my ass. |

Wow.. really impressed with the make -over for this venue and was really floored with the mix from the one and only .. diggers! Sounded like essential mix material

I loved Digweed's musical omage to Dallas with the Brett Johnson "The Underground" track. The music was poppin', I only wish I could have danced longer. Had a nice little upper dance floor section carved out for swinging my legs around and everything. My only complaint is that 35 South to Dallas from Denton was closed after the bridge over lake Lewisville. The entire highway was deadlocked like a parking lot. Couldn't Jeremy and Brooke have gotten together earlier to discuss this with the Texas Interstate Commission? I really felt like their last minute planning on what the roadway systems were doing could have ruined my night. Kekeke. But seriously, fucking great night. Props on the great show. -Sean

proper vortex. Another great full access event. I had no problems with the bar or staff. Nicole was a great bartender as always. Just wish digweed could have played longer. Maybe next time!

| is a legend | My two cents.......
I'm not completely familiar with the reasoning behind the no "ins-outs" policy implimented by clubs & whether it's because of legal laws or something else. For example, at Lizard Lounge, uf you're under 21 you can go in & out & I'm assuming that it's because they don't want minors going out to their car to drink alcohol...... or am I way off base? But if Karma is 21 & up I don't see why they say no "ins-outs?" It's been a while since I've been to Karma & so I've forgotten if they stamp your hand when you walk in the door or not. Maybe they say no "ins-outs" because they don't want you trying to rub your stamp off onto someone else's hand or slip your wristband on to someone who hasn't paid yet. The sound system is awesome! The speakers are bad ass. The bass is great. The dancefloor is huge & the decor makes it look like a trendy nightclub. In this part of town, drinks are going to be overpriced if you're going to one of the more trendy spots. The staff that I've come in contact with have been very friendly & laid back. As for security.....can't comment on that because I haven't really talked to any of them. It's nice to have a club with a bad ass sound system so close to the northern suburbs. Definitely looking forward to future shows @ Karma. |
