it was badass.... from what i can remember of it. wasn't extremely packed, but it wasn't dead either. i do remember liking the track selection, and wishing he could keep playing instead of goldie (sorry goldie, i like ya, but kk was where it was at last night). sorry my review sucks i started drinking too early. |

track selection was aight.... "mixing", not so much. I think. I dunno, I'm not the greatest dj in the world, and I was pretty intoxicated. It just wasn't all "there" yanno? Couldn't really get me into the music. Goldie killed it though... plus it was great to hear Adrian and Leo on the mic. Denzil and Bryan held it down too.... poor Bryan sounded like he was hurting towards the end of the night. And there was a CUTE lil 18 year old chick that just broke up with her boyfriend... I love her. And another cute chick named Shawna... and the go-go dancers... and the chick in the green dress celebrating her birthday... and Mary and Kim.... yeah. lots of wommenz. I had fun rocking Julie's big Baileys hat.

Amy said KK was great... and Goldie was cool but I would have been bored with Goldie. I was gonna go and got called to play Slip Inn last minute.

I was going to go, but had a long workday and took a nap thinking I would get up in time to make it to the show (and Zubar @ Rich and Woody's shindig @ MINC) 3 AM wakeup said otherwise. I saw him at Red Jacket a few years back, so I'm set. Hearing "Ill Type Sound" live is always dope.

Krafty Kuts threw it down. I haven't heard dope breaks in a long time until this, I didn't think there were any anymore unless Stanton Warriors made it . He had to start with an empty dancefloor though since the opening dj didn't get the crowd into it at all playing old and uninspiring breaks, but Krafty got it going after the first couple of tracks. Dope tracks from then on, the mixing, scratching, and accapellas were all on point, very impressed. Funky stuff.

Krafty Kuts almost drove me crazy. 45 minutes after he was suposed to get off the decks and he gives Goldie the "two more tracks" sign for the 8th fucking time I almost went to the door to get a refund. Hell Goldie got pissed off and walked out of the room for a bit. I paid good money to see GOLDIE at 1am instead Im stuck between cheeze breaks, some of the worst god awful trance on earth in the video bar, and some sort of bizzare trailor trash mating ritual set to happy hardcore on the rooftop deck. I guess Im getting way to old for the scene or something but this show reminded me of exactly why I stoped going to the LL a long time ago. I love DnB more than any other music on the planet but I just cant stand the shit I have to go thru to hear the dj's that I like. On that note Was good to hear Pibb and Adrian on the mic they held it down just like the old days and I enjoyed the chance to see Goldie again. Shame that I had to miss 1/2 his set because Kraft Kuts had to do 50 extra minutes of mindless scratching over played out breaks tracks. I coudlnt help but wonder how someone that scratches records every day for a living cant seem to pull anything together that sounds better than if I let my 5yr old loose on the decks.

yeah kev, i almost said "lets get the fuck outta here" after we heard another 45 min of KK; its not that he was doing a shitty job mixing (IMO) just that I went to hear motherfuckin Goldie tear it up and that KK track selection was not doin it for me. neither was that hideous dude onstage humping the dancer's platform. *shudders* but Goldie rocked, srsly. i was groovin to those tunes, just wish he would have gone on at 1am so we could have heard much more from him before we left. |
