Off in the toilet! Got there around 11:00pm and the place had maybe 20 people in it, including the bar staff, etc.

Junior went on at 11:30 give or take to a packed house of even less people then when we showed up. He was just popping in cd's and not really even doing much more (plus he looked pissed), which I can't blame him for I guess. Who the hell wants to play to a giant empty room of about 10 people.

I hope they didn't shell out to much for this shin dig, because they had to be hemoraging money.

We finally bailed a little after 12:30 or so to head to the Green Elephant.

What a waste of an evening and 20 dollars (wish I had my money back)........

Edit: I was at least hoping to see sweaty guys rubbing their tits together, but alas, not even a single shirt off.........

We were going to go and just couldn't do it after the weekend's festivities. We were way too wiped out and exhausted.

I'm sure they lost some money, but not as much as they would have had they just booked him like anyone else. I think he's a friend of one of the owners, so I'll bet they got a cheaper rate than most would have.

Yeah, basically it sucked. I don't know if it was from pure lack of interest or poor advertising, but is was a total bust either way.

I think there's a tendency for owners and promoters to assume that if a legendary DJ is brought in, then it will automatically sell. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Grandmaster Flash was a testament to that.

To me, a DJ is never really a 'show' unless it's a truntablist like Krush or Mixmaster Mike or someone like Chuck Love who really 'performs' alot live other than just playing records, and I think this affects alot of sales other than the hard-core EDM crowd. I know personally, I have gotten bored with going to 'DJ Shows'... especially when I am paying a high cover for said shows. I've seen enough people play songs back and forth and match beats. Hell, I do that myself.

some friends of mine had planned on going to this. they decided to check out metro retro the weekend before, and said the bar was a total joke. they tried to purchase tix for the show, and the staff was not prepared. they didn't trust giving the bar money for an "IOU" ticket in return.

I felt really bad for the bar. I pulled up w/ my buddy into the parking lot and we were both like

I thought it would be packed in there. I hung out for a bit and talked 2 a cpl ppl I knew then went to S4 which was full of fools that paid $10 a head for the normal DJ.
