Lupe Fiasco at HOB - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

For a Wednesday night, this show was packed.

There's always something good to be said for hip-hop performed with a live band and a dj.

I also liked how he split up the set into two parts. The first covering Food & Liquor, and the second doing all the hits from The Cool. The first track he played was his bit from Kanye's "Touch the Sky." Also, did his own interpretation of "Feel Good" over the Gorillaz's beat. Sick start to the night.

Only downside for me was the interlude between the two parts. The vocalist/MC was holding his own, but it started to drift off a bit. He would have worked as an opening act -- not so much as filler for Lupe.

And right before he played "Dumb It Down," he dropped a quick bling-bling type verse to let everyone know that he could rap about hustling and cars too if he wanted.

Shit was outstanding. Laughed my ass off when he did the blingy jingy rap thing. Thugs all over the place started doing ooga booga dances too it and all he was doing was clowning on the style. Brilliant.

There didn't seem to be a big push promoting the show.

If it wasn't for me loving The Cool to death and looking out for this tour to come thru, I probably would have also missed it.

Oh and there was an instore signing at Xperience earlier in the day too.

saw him on monday last week.... at the HOB anaheim and then on the thursday right after at the HOB sunset blvd.... shit was super dope both times.

Great show! Matthew Santos was a pleasant surprise! I had the shittiest day ever at work and ended up getting pretty trashed

but great show all around!
