Thanks for stopping by and checking out the show.

As for the cover, we know $10 might seem like crazy talk. Keep in mind that our show, like any other show or business, has operating costs. These costs are lower if you're a local solo artist and you're performance fee is your paycheck, but our group is made up of multiple artists and staff and has much deeper obligations and responsibilities.

Also, though it seems like you're just coming out to see some local cats get down, the picture is actually much bigger than that. Our djs/ artists have international cred, have been featured on multiple radio shows, are working with other music labels to bring global future hits and are on the verge of launching a summer tour with many cities on the bill.

In short, you're seeing a show each month with international headliners that just so happen to live and play in your backyard and there are operating costs to producing a show with their performances. A show with a cost that is not much more than that of a two-hour movie at your local cineplex, less than that if your on the list. We understand that the perception of their status and fame as headliners may not match that of other famous artists, in the public eye, but that opinion is subjective.

Secondly, we would love to do free shows, as we are artists, musicians and producers before businessmen. Music is our passion. But as with any other artist, if we don't cover our operating costs, the ability to do many more shows and pursue our passion will not exist.

With that said and without trying to make this a pro-cover charge speech, here's the link for the RSVP list:

londonnightsparty@gmail.com

Hit us up. Our list is a bit limited, but we'll gladly put you on it.

Also, we're working on ways to make our show better. Such as, a bigger list, permanent member status with guaranteed reduced entry fee and the occasional free show with other major artists as guests.

In the end, the worth of someone's show or performance is a matter of public opinion. We hope that you enjoy and find personal value in our shows and continue to support our artists. Every artist needs an audience of his/her work.We appreciate everyone that has supported and continues to support our movement.

Best regards,

Oh, and there ended up being a box of wine in the back seat of Jayson's car. It's in my fridge now. Whoever wants to claim it, bring it on. I don't drink wine.
Damn, how did our wine (which I abandoned, I thought , on the roof), make it into his car?

Maybe i'm cheap, but like you said, thats a matter of public opinion. I'll state mine sometimes.

here's another one:

I've heard much worse music than what was played friday, but I've heard much better minimal techno played by many of local techno djs for free.
Im with you Brad $10 bucks is ridiculous for what in reality are local DJ's whether their at some point from or have been to London, Miami, Tijuana or where ever. I can see $5 bucks but not $10. Shit We've got World Class DJ's that come through Dallas all the time that are actually from London and other far away citys/countries and the cover is very rarely over $10.

Also IMO the music is just sub par and as good as any local that’s never set foot outside of Dallas much less been to London.

Now maybe if the "London Nights" was at some crazy underground location and was original as is promoted then maybe I could see the $10 cover.

Thanks man.

You're absolutely right about the quality of talent here in Dallas. There are many talented individuals that do shows without an an entry fee. As for last Friday's show, opinion well taken and respected. We need to step our game up. ( Many more local guys will have to do this as well as Tech-house and Techno begin to become more exposed and more monthlies pop-up featuring these sub genres)

As for the free vs cover thing, let me break down our cost a little further. With guests like Kazell, Erphun, Luca Bachetti and other surpises planned for future shows, we need to be able to "fill the piggy bank" so to speak. We also need to pay our designers, staff, promoters and all costs involved with putting the show together. As a promoter and DJ, you know the detail costs (music, gear etc)...we got those too. In fact, when it's all said and done, our artists/ djs are pretty much performing for FREE. It's not easy, but they're willing to do this in an attempt to further their art and to be part of bringing something different to the club. Also, we don't have the typical arrangement with the venues. Doing a show for a couple of hundred bucks just won't get it done. Bar sales are a no-go for us to. We're in the business of pushing musical expression and art, not liquor.

So keep this in mind when you drop a $5 or $10 at the door, you're not just paying for that nights show. You're helping us do new and exciting things in Dallas.

Best,
+

technicalMUSIC

p.s. when's your next monthy?...we'd like to come thru and show some love. cheers!

I'm down with all that. Take my opinion on the music as just that - one techno head's opinion. and technically (the mixing) was flawless.

You have shown an ability to bring out fresh crowds to the general "tech" sound, so I give respect where respect is due, and shit, if you can make em' cough up $10, more power to you. just fyi- a $5 or $7 cover never would have got mentioned in my first post.

As I stated to AllenMD at the show, it is exciting to see new people (crowds) getting into more of the techy, minimal sound.

I'll be back out to LN.

--we do our techno monthly at minc the second sunday of every month. bbq - techno, and good peeps. We are putting a last minute minimal techno shindig together for this coming sunday 4/20 as well at minc.

Man... finally getting around to this. The rest of the crew is making me look bad....(least they're on top of things)

Great time this past Friday at Minc! Had a blast playing. A big thank you to everyone that came out. Kean and I tried something a little different and did a 1-on-1-off timeslot scenario. I liked it as it gave us both the time to play some deep grooves early and push up a bit late. What do you guys think?

other high points...
Convincing Ms. Marie that I had the "magic touch" ....with the cig machine and trading drink tickets for cigarettes.

Watching Jayson Gold keep an eye on Sharper and move around the room at the same time. That's talent man!

Can't wait for the next one. Special guest Kazell will be coming off the Digweed /Sasha tour to stop by and hang with us. Should be another epic night!

Missed a couple of other shows that I wanted to make this weekend ( techsupprt and molecule's sunday jam)...next month fellas.

Well...bob's your uncle.

Cheers,
Mike

p.s....btw, I'm doing a new experimental weekly over at the Foundation Room tonite. Should be fun! The flyer should be up in discussion soon...
