I showed up on Sunday at 8 and stayed till about 10:15. I helped Swaney setup for outside, that's how early I got there, LOL.

I got to catch the beginning, but I think I missed MInto by like 10 or 15 mins (which sucks).

I didn't have his number stored in my phone, but I didn't want to bug you and the missus so late at night to get it.

I ended up catch Joe C. and women shenanigans instead of making it back in time to MINC.

God bless you and God speed, Minto!

I was exhausted, but still went anyways...and I'm glad I did (even if it was only for an hour) because the music was top notch and I got to see a bunch of old faces, including Mr. George (who will be missed dearly). Best of luck my old friend, come back often!

Everything was top tier. Minc was really fun. The afterparty was great.
Real treat to see plastic sleeves / convextion play live in the same night. A lot of really great music. I couldnt keep my eyes open after 5am but it went on til 7. Met a lot of really cool people. Hope to do something at the same spot sometime soon.

It was a good time...the perfect way to say goodbye to an old friend. Excellent turnout, which largely consisted of folks coming out of the woodwork. It was fun sharing the decks with Rick & DJG in the back. We played everything from Herbie Hancock to Kraftwerk to Drexciya. Music inside was great all night. Brian Bishop rocked the wacky italo, Daniel G from Austin got the dance floor in order with the Chicago and Detroit trax, and Luke closed down Minc with a classic set that had everyone in the building moving on the dance floor. And then...

...On to the after-party. Very cool venue, and nice artwork in the adjoining gallery. The lack of circulation was reminiscent of venues I used to brave as a young lad. I think I sweat my way to sobriety within minutes. The stockpile of water and ice tea was a necessity. After brief technical difficulties, Plastic Sleeves played a nice live set of newly written material...deep and intense electro rhythms from outer space. Walter Jones took it to the roots with a dope selection of disco and soul. Convextion went on around 4:30AM, and played a live set of new, unreleased music. Quite the treat. The boys from Backspin Records in Austin were banging out the electro beats when I finally left around 6AM. I think the "evening" finally came to a close around 7AM.

All in all, the evening was a memorable night of quality tunes and quality friends. We'll miss the ol' Toe while he's hanging out with the cows, tumble weeds, and cadavers in West Texas, but there comes a time in all of our lives when we must, in the words of UR, "make our transition."

I have to admit...

Luke Sardello's set @ Minc, was probably the best set of the weekend, imho!
