Female Night @ LL

Heather/Angel0ne rocked it... didnt stop dancing from beginning to end. she played all kinds of tunes i've been dying to hear in the club forever but no dj would ever play.

Flowerette rocked it... like Heather, played tracks that are never played in this city, was nice to finally hear it

Jen Lasher... played 80s and classic goth club tracks

best night of dancing i've had in two years (with the possible exception of Miguel Migs @ Minc)

i have a feeling we're going to get another night started in town, Heather got bit by the dj bug again and we need another spot in town where good electro/synthpop can be heard.

Well that answers my mystery question from Barcadia last night as to who that chick with Leo was.

Pinkish-blonde with nice figure = Jen Lasher.

I thought she looked familiar and I couldn't remember why.

The rolled in and out early and I totally forgot about the event. I keep forgetting that you played @ Wall, Joel.

If this blows up into something weekly/monthly, let a teatime know. I'm sure there are a lot of old Wall attendees that would love to hear the music again.

ah was Jen over there before she went on? Jen was bopping up in down up there during her whole set. She played all kinds of classics...

Heather and Flowerette were playing some great new stuff... we got to hear Cut Copy, The Presets, The Whip, LCD Soundsystem, Calvin Harris, The Rapture, some good stuff that I haven't heard in awhile off of Wall of Sound... and even a track from one of my favs... Planet Funk. It was just some good new stuff. They both played tracks that I wasn't even familiar with yet too but it all sounded great.

I think the Church is becoming (or always was) more of a retro club though... I really think the crowd that shows up there really wants more of the classics than the newer stuff which is why I think we need another spot in town to play the new stuff. We need to find the crowd that wants to hear the new stuff.

The crowd that was once predominate at Eden 2000 and the Sunday night crew over at Red Jacket use it as their last bastion in this city.

There is still the division between "old" and "new" schoolers in this city (Audri and I had a chat about that last year).

It makes no sense, but it is what it is. Wait a year or two before trying to get serious with that. There honestly isn't enough space in this city for it (unless you are going to ride Deep Ellum all way to the brutal end @ one of its remaining clubs).

Well I've been banging my head against a wall for years trying to get new stuff played there and it finally dawned on my hardheaded ass last night that it's a retro club which is why nothing new ever survives there.

If we don't start a night then someone needs to because we need a REGULAR, WEEKLY spot in town that new synthpop, electropop, whatever gets played... no one-offs, monthlies, etc... we need a regular spot. I know Keith P and Redeye play some of this stuff but we need a regular spot. Minc needs to hook it up is what it is... we need some dance space and a club that wants good music.

oh and Heather played some Dirty South too... good stuff. This is the kind of music, dark, and filthy that I think would be perfect for that crowd. grrr

The Cavern isn't bad and offers a variety of different events/music. If "I" were to begin a legacy, I'd follow the exodus north to Greenville. That is going to be the new hotbed of music and see/be seen mentality. If DDM doesn't show that enough to you, I don't know what will.

Build up the numbers and then present them elsewhere.

P.S. Dirty South? @ LL?

And she got away with it?

Does she want to make swirl babies?

yeah but you can't dance at the Cavern.

the only place i remember up on Lower Greenville that you can dance is that place that Q-Burns played at that one time... i can't remember the name. it was the place that Paredes and Pace played at for awhile.

gotta have some room to dance. the reason i say that is because we HAD a crowd and when we went over and started playing at Orchid we lost everyone because no one wanted to come to a bar. i realize that I can dance at a place like Orchid but our crowd was used to Wall and other clubs that had dancefloors.

i gotta get to work, i'll chat with ya later
