Blind Melon & after @ zubar

It was a great show. Seemed a little short, but the singer was losing his voice so maybe they cut it short by a few songs. They played "Skinned" which is my favorite song by them though so I'm happy.

One of the guitarists threw some picks into the crowd, and one landed in my water cup I was holding, which was pretty cool. And I found another on the ground, even cooler.

Got to meet a few DDMers, richardthomas & littlz, great to meet you two. Hope we run into each other again.

Afterwards headed to zubar, pretty low-key for a thursday but it was all good. Roos supplied the dope tunes as always! That Rick Preston / Roos collaboration was bad ass man. Got a little drunker than I wanted to, but I'm not too hungover which is awesome.

Glad the show was good. Like I said, they sounded great a few months back when they played in the studio acoustic. New singer is cool. And I really like that they acknowledge that they will never be the same as they were with Shannon, but they don't deny their fame as such. They seem to embrace it while moving in a new direction.

Had a good time at the show. I got to bring out a couple of friends and they had a great time. I heard change and no rain but was hoping to hear a few more songs off their first album. The band sounded great despite shannon not being there but there were plenty of long haired hippies in the crowd to make up for it. I know at one point I smelled both patchouli and weed but it only enhanced the effect. Got to meet Krispy as I walked in the door and the man bought me a jagerbomb. Also got to meet Kitty's boy Double A. Apparently her date was not rave compatible.

Great evening, sorry I didn't make it to zubar, but my friends wanted to go to Hurricane's down the street.

Thanks so much for the tix Mike. Blind Melon rawked. The new singer really is pretty badass. They played some of my favorite songs. I laughed ALOT! Was a rawkin' good time. Cool seeing all the DDMer's out.

Mike had me dancin' my drunken ass off at Zubar. FUN FUN! I think I tried to get up in the break-dancin' circle up front a couple timz too.

Yeah, i had a freaking blast last night! I haven't been to Hob yet so I really loved the sound in there, nice. Excellent being SO CLOSE to the band. I got to FEEL Christopher's sweat hit my forehead! Nice to have bubbles BLASTING for No Rain. Actually the entire audience was singing along for that one (duh), but I'm just glad that it it was really intimate. Just had so much fun watching them play... and seeing EVERYONE was getting in to.

BM ended at 11pm, so I had to go home.

Thanks so much Roos for hooking up those tickets. Yr my personal hero this week.

The concert was a blast and so was Zubar although I was pretty drunk by the time we made it over there! I was definitely hungover the next day!

Richard, good seein you man... it's been a minute. I would've like to hear more of Blind Melon's older stuff too, but it still made me think back to my high school daze
