It started around 7 at Lakewood Theater last night.
Tim was the speaker. He's the dood that started Pandora. He got the idea from his working-musician days while working on scoring films.

He'd go sit w/ a director and both would have a bunch of CDs and go through the film talking about what the director wanted for different scenes and play different music.

By doing this, Tim started to create a system for trying to guess and describe what the director wanted.

He got a cpl million and started the project 2 weeks b4 the dotcom collapse.
They worked the idea for a while, ran out of money and did shady stuff to keep moving forward.

He finally got more funding after asking around 350 times or so. That's fucking dedication right there...

I asked why he doesn't just create contracts w/ musicians to not deal w/ RIAA and SoundExchange (since they are the ones that have jacked w/ iternet radio royalty rates to the point of pretty much trying to shut them down.) He answer (summed up) was that it's easier. They are just hoping that congress will do the right thing and fix this issue.

Really cool, laid back guy. It's going to be very interesting to see what all happens in the future.

that's pretty fucking cool. once i fine tune my production craft, i'd like to license my tracks in film, tv, radio, hell just about EVERY medium in existence!

I think the biggest thing I took away from it last night was to not give up on a dream and do whatever it takes to do it.

That is, assuming it's a good idea.

I did my bestest to make sure ppl on here knew about it. Even made that lame ass poll about it. lol

honestly, he didn't really say anything "new"...

the most interesting part was more hearing the struggles and seeing who the man is on a personal level.

Really really cool guy. VERY approachable.

And he's not hiding the fact that he wants to put your company out of bizz. lol
well, as he said "that's not an objective, but it may be a side effect for our main goals."
