![]() | Week In Review... Late Edition... and then some!
Well, I know I'm very late on this one, but for good reason... the reason will come after the Review... Sunday, August 18: Off to Orchid for The Living Daylights where Adrian Braun, Aqualight & DJ ZUUL along w/ guest DJ The Herbal Cowboy (best name I've heard of in a while!) From what I could remember they all pretty much tore it up - but, what do you expect from three (or four) great DJs in one place?? The people, I think, are starting to get the hint that something is a brewing on Sunday afternoons. Tuesday, August 20: Moosh, anyone?? WOW!! That is all I have to say! Eric Entity, aka Maetrik, put on a show that will remain in my memory for a loooooong time!! So damn good that I let him go on for another hour!! If you ever get a chance to see this guy spin - TAKE IT!!!! Pure tech-house was the name of the game as Eric took Moosh for a fucking ride w/o the presence of seat belts, brakes and airbags! The Safety Commission would've shit a brick if they found out!! I couldn't compete - I felt like a little boy going on after this man!! Probably one of our greatest sets by a guest!!!! Wednesday, August 21: For the first time since I've been going there earlier this year, I really didn't feel "the vibe" that I've been use to hearing @ The Village Station. A wierd night this night was. The guest DJs @ the spin-to-win were pretty good - the last DJ I have to commend - now thats balls right there!! Coming out w/ what he's was throwing down (If I remember right - ambient/experimental or somesuch!), on top of what the other contestants were spinning (hard house, epic trance, techno, etc I commend whoever that DJ was!!Thursday, August 22: Orchid was the place to be as they kicked off Round 1 of The Southern Drawl between The Thin Men & The Disco Agents! And it looked like the Disco Agents won that round @ Orchid! As soon as they left the decks, so did the majority of the crowd! They put on a show as they displayed their prowess on the decks right up to the track, 'Running: Intro' (That track always gets me!!) The Thin Men (minus Doug D who was spinning @ Area 51) held their ground for the remainder of the night w/ their style of progressive house. Earlier, Shaun Slaughter & I took a little jaunt down the street to The Art Bar(?) where we thought Jay Winborn was going to be spinning but instead ran into Mason & his partner (didn't catch his partner's name - sorry!) spinning breaks, scratchin' & they featured a live trumpeter! For the little while that we were there didn't sound bad at all!! I liked it! Friday, August 23: I made a return trip to DNA in Deep Ellum to check out the G3 Entertainment showcase. Tony Mugavero, Geoff Haselgrove & Corey Spengler, aka DATGUY, was in the middle of their set when I got there. More people started to file in as DATGUY was finishing their set to a very slow-building crowd. Great set by the way! Granite & Yorek took over & worked the crowd over w/ a mixture of house & progressive. Not a bad night - just wish there was more people there to check out the talent that G3 Entertainment has to offer! After that, I took a swim over to Se7en to check out Wes & Kenan who took the crowd & did more than work them over! THEY LET 'EM HAVE IT!!! In my opinion, besides Granite & Yorek, these are two guys that are very talented & ALSO need a residency here in Dallas!! Hands down!!! When I walked in, I felt like someone kicked me in the teeth!!!! The non-DRavers that were @ Se7en enjoyed it, which tripped me out!! (yes, the Cheeze-Ballers!) Great night all around the block as I was thoroughly impressed by all DJs on this night!! song that is stuck in my head & it won't get out: Underworld - Two Months Off (as heard in sets by Adrian Braun & Wes Lee) (this track is fuckin' cool as shit!! If that's possible!!) There you go! I guess you're wondering what the fuss is all about?? Well... The Week In Review... ...will be put on hiatus for a while! ... and I just wanted to say thanks to all of those that have read it & submitted posts/replys. You guys are the reason that I post this thread. To let people know what 's going on in the community & at the same time promote & support the nights that I love going to - all on one thread! Yeah! It was a bitch reading this long-ass thread week in, week out - try TYPING this long-ass thread! I 've met alot people through this thread. When will The Week In Review return?? Before the year is out, definitely. But,right now, I have TOO much food on my plate as of this very moment: DJing, writing articles for Elevated Beat, promoting & assisting for G3 Entertainment, and now collaborating w/ another local DJ to start our dream of producing w/in another month! On top of that, having a 'real' job (who really need one of those!!) & moving back w/ the 'rents due to financial decline (has nothing to do w/ the nightlife scene!!) So this is the last long-ass thread that I'll be typing for a while... ... thank you - everyone! BTW... if you stop by Moosh on Tuesdays or The Village on Wednesdays, stop by the DJ booth & say hi!!! Once again, thank you for the support, & I love all of you!!! taking a loooooong break, timmers
