| My Review of Miami and South Beach
Good Points to Miami: 1. Beach 2. Clear Ocean 3. Beach 4. George Acosta, OMG, this man finally made me realize what electronic music is really about for me. I am so glad I went. He put on an amazing show. When we left at 4:30 he had been on for 3 hours and was still going. He had the crowd going. 5. Ben and Jerry's Store 6. Not as many Pretty people as you would think 7. The WhiteLaw Hotel- Nice, great location, and the staff was super. Down fall to Miami: 1. Rude people at Night Clubs, they spill drinks on you and bump into you and no excuse me. You say excuse me to move and they don't and when you squeeze past they give you dirty looks. 2. Wait Staff doesn't look at you or acknowledge you until you are ready to order. They don't check on you for water and such. 3. The clubs and their system of letting people in. If there is no one inside they still make people wait outside so it looks like they are busy and gives them power. or if you are on the list and not Barbie or Ken they won't acknowldge you, you have to say something to them. 4. The $9-$15 drinks at bars and $4-6 bottle of water. 5. 99% Humidity 6. Cover runs from $20-50, we got lucky the first night and this guy gave us a flyer for open bar from 10-12 and no cover at one club. Granted no one was there when we first go there, but 2 hours of free drinks can't be beat. There is more but let me say this, I would go again. I did find one club I liked. But for now I am so over clubbing for awhile. 3 full nights can wear a person specially when you have been on the beach all day ! And One hint buy liqour and get trashed at your hotel before you go out ! or buy the little bottles and stash them in your purse to bring in. What is up with the sun glasses in the clubs are we back in the 80's.... hehe |

Thats pretty cool you got a chance to kick it in Miami. ![]() It looks like you got to witness what me and Yvonne saw a couple of weeks back. Overall, South Beach is a giant champaign glass stuck in the sand. Beautiful girls all around, Tony Montana wannabes driving around in ridiculous rides all the while bars and clubs rake in tourist cash by the bundle. As far as the talent.....When we got there I could totally see George Acosta is highly regarded there. There are other good djs like Oscar G and such laying it down as well. And ....The one and only dance station in Miami plays nothing but the same 5 HORRIBLE "dance" tunes (Chicago remakes and Madonna Covers)................ The clubs are cool thou.....Tennaglia holds court at Space once a month I think. In fact he just played this last Saturday. YOU BETTER NOT HAVE MISSED THAT IF YOU WERE THERE ;p The bar/restaurants like Bed and Lula are pretty nice as well. As far as the sunglass thing, that was something I noticed also. I understand that they are a necessity but the predominant style everyone seemed to be sporting over there was that cheap Channel clear J-Lo lens/only style which could easily be purchased at a convenience store for 7.99..... It was pretty funny..... Btw we stayed at the Whitelaw hotel also for a couple of days.... If you walk around Ocean drive there are people standing outside of shops handing out free passes to crobar or Space.... peace |

If you read my review you would know I saw him on Saturday at Level. George is the best! Space sucked ass....they piled us in one room like cattle till it was full then opened another area. Once that was filled they opened up the outside area. The only place to sit was outside unless you had $500 to get into VIP...That is not the way to have a club.... but oh well.... |

I'm with you on all those points. I thought the $20 - $25 thing was only during WMC, but I guess its like that all the time. The drinking thing really broke me. Cuz I gotta have 7 or 8 at least. Thats almost 100 bux if you include tip. Ouch. But again, I'm with you. I will go back. WMC 2003 - here I come.
