This festival has been going on for years. It is up there with the Love Parade as one of the largest and most important international gatherings in the world. I think saying that it's no "EDC" is quite an understatement.

PAHLEASE!!!!!!!!! Keep BM OFF this message board. These people DO NOT belong to that community.... they will never. I would hate to go to BM next year and find a Dravers meet up. How disgusting and totally rude!!! Any burner will tell you that RAVERS do not belong. Only people who care about each other, the environment, community and love belong. I highly doubt you'll find that here. If you are a true burner... you already know about BM and don't need to be told about it. So... no more BM on Draves please!!!!!! And to all those Dravers that think this is a bit rude... it was meant to be. |

Yeah, well, some people can't help being rude, right, so at least you admit it. Music is to be enjoyed by all. But it's not just about the music there. Anyways...............I have only heard crazy things about BM. Maybe you know more than I do about WHO BELONGS there and WHO DOESN'T BELONG THERE.

I have to agree with you, Dancegirl, even if it sounds snotty. Burning Man is not a place to simply go "party" and it is certainly not a place to bring the pretension that comes along with the "rave scene." I was pissed off enough when I got hit in the head with a glowstick at Massiv. If it happened at BM, I just might go ballistic.

![]() Actually BM is for anyone that wants to go. BM is commercial now Jennifer is not like its a big secret or anything. Also guess what..... there are *gasp* ravers that actually go!! You dont see any baggy pants or anything but people that go to burning man are the true ravers if you ask me. People that put their egos aside, lower their inhibitions, throw stupid HS trends out the door and dance in ritualistic ways are what raving is all about. Its all about connecting to that primal part of yourself and getting your groove on the desert. Redhot1 - dont listen to other people's discouragment. If you're interested in BM then GO! I've never been (will be going next year to perfrom and setup art installalations) but all my friends that have gone have never been the same since. If you want to see the true underground of the artistic primal global community then check it out. See you next year!

I've read about people that go and setup an electronic music village if you will. While it is not a rave in the typicall sense, the music is represented there on a small scale. I've also read all the rules/guidelines/requirements etc. on the burning man site and they specifically address the ravers. They make sure and let them know that it will not/can not be a rave as the music cannot be super loud all nite long etc.... This is probably one thing that you and I will agree on dancegirl. I think that 99% of the people on "this" message board have no place there. Dallas raver youngins lack the respect for themselves much less other people to attend and contribute to BM. On the flip side of that coin, I think there are people associated with the "rave" scene that have things other than "raves" to contribute to BM. I would say to anyone that is curious about it to check it out and read about it. You will probably be surprised. It is not some big party in the desert where you party your ass off and leave. You have to be 100% self sufficient. Ie. you leave will all of the trash that you create, you take all of the food and water that you will be using. There are no stores for food or glow sticks and should you need to leave and find a store (which is nowhere close) you have to buy a pass to leave and come back. You have to contribute you time and/or art on many different levels. I've read about it all and I will admit that I'm curious as hell, but I'll wait until I have a better means to bring something to the table. SFH |
