And from the vibe that I get your sentiments mirror the majority of the "dj's" in this city...local minimal techno dj's only check for "minimal" out of town guests...local nu disco dj's only check for "nu disco" out of town guests...jackin' local dj's only check for "jackin" out of town guests...etc., etc., etc.,

I don't dj(at home only...if you want to call trainwrecking "djing"..teehee) but from what I observe you local dj's don't support each other so how are you expected to support a out of town guest(regardless of venue...whether upscale or shit-hole)...just because you and your dj denizens "aren't into that style/type of House"....

I guess this is an example of that 'cohesive scene' that juandingo mentions...

First of all i don't play minimal, second i've supported locals in this town for a very, very long time, either by booking them at my weeklies / monthlies or by going to support their nights (I haven't been out as much in the past couple months, you tend to get burn out after 8+ years straight of almost being out every night).

I've never understood the "heads" in the dallas scene, when a headliner was here almost weekly, they'd never come show support to the locals (I always did and hardly ever went to those weekly headliner events at minc etc)

Obviously you don't really know, so that's ok to make wild accusations.

So then where do you go eric? And what does the venue have to do with the music. That is what real supportive musicians are all about right? The music? Or do djs and producers spend their whole lives trying to make it in the scene so they can judge venues where djs and producers who are much bigger than the bashers will ever be play at? I mean eric, it makes no sense. Yes, support the locals, fuck, book the locals, but don't bash the venues that want to make a nice establishment for people to enjoy a clean and soundful way to see the artists that inspire them to continue.

The Venue has nothing to do with the artist, all over the america this is going on. The animosity for a venue makes no sense. So where can a headliner play than that has the setup that a rider from a star can accommodate? Please tell us what our options are so I can start going there to see my James Zabielas, Eddie Halliwells and Mistress Barbaras..... Because obviously there is some secret place that I need to find and spend my money there.

Plush is asses to elbows at most "events" and IMO it's about being seen which really caters to the dallas vibe. If I had the opportunity to play there, I would but it's not something that I am really willing to hustle for. But, unless I am going to see someone I really want to see, or am going with friends and not paying I will not CHOOSE to go to plush. It's just not my cup of tea. There is no room for people not dancing to stand, which makes it a pain in the ass to enjoy gettin your boogie on because you're always making room for yourself. Which leads people to give you the wtf stare.

in the end it is what it is, a lounge with no real dancefloor.

yeah the sound system is good mind you but yeah i still stick to my guns on the nazis tip. perhaps you haven't experienced it..yet but i'm sure its coming. for instance i heard of a story at them literally screaming and losing their shit on the local dj's they book over on something so simple as a dj cutting their night short 5 minutes @1:55am when the club is entirely entry. just saying. and thats just one of the bad stories i've heard here recently,

We were headed out there before, but I heard all the good and bad news from my friend who had already been there and we decided against it.

The news was that the place was fucking awesome and the sound system in the main room was awesome.
But there are some real douchebags there, the whole place is too small for the artists that are being brought in, the basement room has a "really" short roof which makes it feel even smaller and... oh did I mention some "real" douchebag wanna be 30k millionaires?

I will still go to the place eventually and check it out (as soon as an artist I really gotta see comes).

I've been a dj for a veerrrry long time and strippers spinning records is a great novelty item, but that's not gonna pull me (or very many people I know) out of the woodwork. There are waaay too many of these stripper dj's and I don't give a fuck how good they are on the decks. They make a bad name for all female DJ's (hot or not) who work their asses off to perfect their craft. Only to be out booked by a chick with big tits who doesn't mind showing them to get a gig. I've known and have met tons of DJ's who happen to be female who can blow her shit straight out of the water, but can't get as big as her, because they actually wear clothes when they spin. MEA and MIA are other examples. I remember when they used to wear clothing as well.

I checked the venue out the other day for the first time and was impressed by everything i saw. Not one time did I see anything resembling what Juan talks of. Minus my friends having to go outside on the rooftop to smoke. (Dallas wide problem)

True, theres a low ceiling downstairs, but I'm not over 8 feet tall, so it doesn't bother me. The only thing I didn't like was 7 dollar wells, but on the 15th, it's 3 dollar u call it's. I'm gonna be TWISTED!
