So I guess if someone of Redeye's stature within the scene documents that there was "nothing" going on during a party featuring a nationally renowned dj, we should ignore his testimony and file his eyewitness account as "bitching" and we all should just chalk this up as being the way things are and accept the status quo without stating certain truths?

I guess the metroplex should be happy to have such a stellar venue where absolutely "nothing" is going on...

Thats kinda like investing in having the King Tut exhibit at the State School for the Blind...

Again I don't see your view here. When i am watching someone play or dancing I channel everything out. I don't go out to see artists I am fond of in hopes everyone is NOT looking like cattle. I was there with like 6 friends and we were ALL dancing the whole time. I had a blast, his set was good, the crowd was pretty packed, it was a really fun night. It appears your judgement is pretty ridgid vs mine. I know you've been in the Texas scene for a while and maybe your just getting sick and tired of it from what it sounds. Whenever I go out to Plush and see some dope names it's never been a bad night. and the coolest part is how the staff there will let people come in the dj booth and get pictures or autographs etc.... Aside from me even playing there I am a satisfied customer

That actually wasn't really what I was saying. *shrugs*

What if blind kids kept paying you money to come into your exhibit?

And I have never personally seen "sole purpose is to make people dance" in a DJ contract. But hey, I haven't seen them all.

*sigh* It sems like you're constantly missing the big picture....or maybe youre feeling sensitive because you're playing at Plush and are refusing to have a nonbiast view. BUT the fact of the matter is..i know when a party is going off...........and that wasnt it. When Josh Wink was there....THAT went off. People from the bar to the booth were going for it. Same for Kaskade (whom i dont even like, but will give props where they're due) Whereas at T Sunshine, people on the floor were acting like they were at the bar. Standing around with their thumbs up their asses.
I saw every single person that came through that door...and i know what "types" of people were there. And it was definately more of "their" crowd than a party crowd. And those people do not dance. They don't seem to do anything fun ever. They stand around, and stare at each other, and are appalled if someone does dance that isnt on a box dressed like a whore. It's a very digital scene. So hooray for you if you get to go in a booth for autographs...but that doesnt mean the party went off.
Not saying the staff isnt nice (although the girl at the cash register has the personality of an uncooked hamburger patty), or that Tommie did a bad job. But it did sound like as the night went on he dumbed it down more and more and was going to his "emergency standby" discs to make something happen with that crowd. Once i heard the electrohouse bootleg of Billie Jean i knew there was no turning back. No one of that level of DJ should ever be forced to play such a thing.

no, but you seem to be late on your arguments, scotty said people were standing around not dancing. you're blah, blah, blahing about ultra lounges and idiot people. we've got it, they suck. scottie isnt bitching about that, he's just making an observation that the crowd sucked at the TS show. you brought in the macro problem of dallas's nightlife denziens being boring and shallow, and as i've said we've gone over that ad nauseam.

his sole job is to dj, dancing doesnt seem to be that big with the under 25 crowds. I really chalk it up to social changes. i mean you can get people over 40 to dance at the drop of a hat, although thats what was poppin in there day. Ever see some 60's or 70s vids with people wearing suits or cocktail dresses to go out and dance(most likely with no a/c)? Ever see people wear suits or cocktail dresses to go out anymore other than rare special occasions? things change holmes.

Brotha this is Dallas, I've been to some of the biggest parties in the world 10 yrs strong, I know when a party is going off as well. Did this go "go off" no! But did I have fun? fuck yeah!! Kaskade.... Really Scotty? Of course people are gonna show and fill the floor, those are the same people who would show up to a tiesto show!!!!

Tommie Sunshine on the other hand just isnt a dj that people in Dallas are gonna hurry up for and reck the dancefloor with, (except the fact he co-wrote silver screen a track you sang over a microphone @ ghost bar which the lyrics he wrote) So without tommie, that fun little jive you did wouldnt of existed. People just don't know about him that well, unlike a kaskade who's all over beatport and riding the deadmau5 coat tails so yeah.... BUT! How many other house artists can say they have a platinum record on thier wall or 2 bbc documenteries on house music, or being on the cover of urb and times? His remixology is enough to just say hahah. Is every show that goes down in dallas supposed to go off scotty? EVERY SHOW? That would be lame, it wouldnt be special like it is when I was at plush when eddie halliwell threw down the sickest set I've ever seen ANYONE throw down, and that includes Zabiela, (AND THAT NIGHT WAS DEAD, ASK ANYBODY THERE, AND MY HOMIE, GIRL AND I WERE THE ONLY ONES DANCING YET THAT SHIT WENT OFF CAUSE OF WHO I WENT THERE TO SEEE. and believe me, I've seen every traveling international dj that's worth a damn the 10 yrs I've been hitting every massive/club possible....

Bottom line, If every show I went to was a "eddied halliwell" night I would eventually just stop going out, it would get old. I like changes, seeing different sets, different crowds, dancing or non dancing.... Fuck sometimes I prefer a non dancing crowd, it gives me room to dance and not have peoples arms of sweat all over myself. Just because a night doesnt go perfect doesnt mean you have to knock it. And just because people dont dance (when actually people were you just didnt see us) mean its a bad show. TS isnt an eddie halliwell but his spirit was welcoming and I enjoyed seeing him, and have highest respect for him and will continue to respect him. You go back 4+ yrs ago the crowd probably would of been different since those were his "highlight" career days.

Anyways, I'm very open minded and non biased I can enjoy just about anything at a show. I think positive unlike others. Instead of trying to find out things that you don't like and post them, I like to talk about things I did like and post them. Basically I don't need perfection (althought its great when I get it that one time a yr or so) All I need is my friends, good sound, a headliner I respect, a full set and I'm satisfied.

read my section about eddie halliwell, the place was dead no one dancing and that went off. my point is crowd should not matter of something going off. That eddie halliwell show was the greatest I have ever been apart of.

Hmmmm...I think I'll pass. I'm sure that this sentence is your central point and I get where you're coming from.
