The Palladium forgot that it isn't the 100 degrees of summer now in October and had the A/C icy cold to where everyone appeared to be shivering for much of the time until it finally got a little less frigid later in the night. The place was packed! Great turnout considering the steep ticket prices. It seemed like the lines at the bars took forever to move. I think they should have a separate bar or drink stand just for bottled water so that those who just want water can go to that line instead of standing forever in the lines where time consuming mixed drink orders are made. I thought Detloff was great, I thought he played more interesting/complex music that seemed to get the crowd really going. I wasn't really feeling Harvard Bass too much, only here and there. Tiesto was great playing both melodic vocal trance selections, remixes of U2 AND BT as well as some hard core tracks

Yes, even he is finally realising that shit is whack. A quote from him last night(not to me but to a very reliable source) is that he's moving in a different direction. If people like it they like it. If they don't, they don't. He doesn't care. I heard a lot of people were thrown by his music and kinda doing the Dallas standaround. I just can't believe the number of people that actually paid 70 bucks to watch somebody play cd's. I won't even pay that much to watch someone actually perform in concert. Fuck a bunch of that. I'm kinda fearful of his new indie ventures. But I suppose one of two things will happen. Bad indie, or they might make him a little better. Anyway kudos to him for moving on. He's a rich ass motherfucker, no need for him to keep pushin that shit anymore if he's over it.

Okay I enjoyed Tiesto's in Search of Sunrise stuff and his older trance. That being said, his set at Ultra was fucking sick! Tons of his older tracks mixed with a lot of new tracks atm. Last night I knew to expect something new and I tried to come in with a positive mindset. His first hour was a lot of his new tracks off his CD, the only track I truly enjoyed was the Flight 643 remix (2nd track played). The 2nd hour was pretty housey, it was okay, but not the same epic Tiesto. I found myself multiple times thinking how damn cheesy the vocals were and that he couldn't put a dub on it =/ The 3rd hour it got better for me. I guess it started when he played Love Comes Again and more and more trance started to get played. It seemed like the crowd liked that quite a bit more too. Overall though there were some good moments, but I was left not impressed! Something about having that big of a crowd, great lights, and a big name like that and it only being a very mediocre set. Most of my friends had a good time, but I think the venue had a lot to do with it. If we would take Armin's set from last week and place him in Tiesto's spot, last night would have went down as one of the best nights in Dallas. |

I don't even know where the term electrohouse came from. There's nothing electro about it or housey about it. It shares the qualities of neither genre

I was dragged there by my wife. Since I hate Trance, I was expecting it to totally suck. But in reality it wasn't that bad. He is definitely expanding a little bit. The Tegan & Sara track wasn't too bad. But who the heck paid $70..?? Our tix were $46, I think. Either way, it wasn't horrible and (lucky for me) I saw no jesus poses?? We didn't stay past 1:45, so I don't know how it went after that. So it was interesting, anyway... back to house music for me.
