Week In Review...

well, its time to go on a little hiatus again, but I told ya I'd put out 2 weeks worth of The Week In Review... and what a busy week it was!!! I had fun this week being that there were soooo many options to choose from... well, I'll tell ya how the week went for me, then you tell me how you liked your week!!!

Sunday, October 27: a brief visit to Orchid for The Sopranos Watching Party... I have to get my Sopranos fix!!! Then to SEVEN, as I was DJ ZUUL's guest DJ for the night. The crowd was small, but workable. A good handful stayed until the very end as we belted out a hard-driving tribal set. Wished ZUUL was given more time to get a core following so things will be really jumpin' at SEVEN on Sundays!!

Tuesday, October 29: I missed out on DJ Spettro the previous Saturday @ The Ruby Room - then I heard he was going to spin @ Orchid!! I can redeem myself & check him out so I won't be kicking myself in the ass for missing two of his shows in 4 days! Spettro, Paul Peredes & John Walker all worked their magic as they weaved a groovin' house set. Spettro can work it!! Can't wait till he comes back!! Thanks John & Paul for bringing him to Orchid!!

Wednesday, October 30: OK!! Alot of us were waiting for this ever since it was announced!! Sander Kleinenberg's appearance @ The Village Station stirred alot of anticipation over the past two months and now it was time to see what all the hype was about!! Sander started off nice and pretty housy!! He slowly worked the little more than half-capacity crowd but didn't shift it into high gear like he has been known to do!! The set was pretty good, but being that it was Halloween - or when he went on, it was technically Halloween - EVERYBODY was expecting Sander to go fierce!! But still a great set!!

Thursday, October 31: A very crazy night!! Decked out in my Navy dress blues uniform (or referred to as "crackerjacks"), I ventured down to Deep Ellum to check out the sights & sounds. Orchid was bustling w/ super heroes, villains, and... people!! Aqualight & DJ ZUUL were the guest DJs as they switched off between orchid & ClubOne & Shaun Slaughter & Adrian Braun were spinning minus Doug D. ArtBar was slowly building as Method, Marvel & HEXISM (HEX pulling off the grunge look!) threw down a wicked set w/ some great mixing & alotta scratching & a little tribute set to the late Jam Master Jay - thank you!!! Clearview was open & ready for business as Jay (dressed as a - DJ!!!) got the night going w/ some pretty slammin' house!!! I switched off between all of these places as i noticed that all three were packed at one point of the night & ALL DJs were working their asses off on the decks!!! After 2AM I cruised down to ClubOne where Mikey was spinning to a pretty dead crowd!! But other than that, it couldn't take away from the fact that it was a very GREAT night by all establishments & DJs & the crowd/vibe was there!!! I wish it was like that ALL of the time!!

Friday, November 1: Another moment we have all been waiting for since it was announced!! Since seeing Danny Howells in Miami @ WMC '01 opening for Deep Dish @ Space, I've been infatuated w/ him!!! He has a feel for the crowd & LOVES what he's doing!! And this night was no different!! After Darren D warmed things up w/ some funky house, it was time for Danny to step up & show Dallas what he's got!! and boy, he did not disappoint!!! almost everything under the sun from funky house to techno to bangin' prog to breaks - he was all over the place!!! probably one of the best sets this year by far!!!!!! and the vast majority of the crowd was there to see Danny!! Thanks to Jay for bringing him in!! I hope he comes back again, this time to play in front of a larger crowd!!!!

Saturday, November 2: The rain just wasn't going to let up!! The amount of people wasn't going to be the same as it has been!!But i still came out!!! Orchid, once again, as Shaun Slaughter & Doug D were guests alongside Paul Cantrell for the usual Saturday night house/prog-fest!! They never seem to disappoint!!! Open featured a great line-up as well!! Resident John Vella and guests - jv - & Matt Pruitt (aka 4Peace) put all the people's head out as they threw down some funky house & some bumpin' tech-house!! Very smooth & very silky mixes by all three!! After bouncing between those two most of the night, Shaun Slaughter & my self took a little trip to the Lizard Lounge to chat w/ Merritt for a bit!! and performing was Perry Ferrell, formerly of Jane's Addiction. For the brief time we were there, his mixing was, well, OFF!! His track selection was good, but... Like I said, we were there for little bit!! then, it was time to head down to ClubOne & get my dosage of DJ Redeye w/ his style of twisted dark house & guests of the night, Adrian Braun & a surprise set by - jv -!!! all three got it going as Meltdown 4 let out & the place was slowly filling up!! most people i've seen there in a loooong time!! the night overall was coool but very slow in my mind!!! I hope ClubOne gets back to where it use to be!! The place for cutting edge dark house & Int'l DJs that would kick you in the balls!!!! I hope that day id real soon!!!

Well, that will be it!!!! I seem to be a little bit sub-par but I tried to go as many places as I can, but the same venues seem to attract me as the vibe shifted from night to night, venue to venue, beat by beat!! I hope you enjoyed this long-ass thread b/c i actually had fun writing it for you (as Darki once told me at Club S&M, that shit is fucking long!!!! I hope he was talking about the Week In Review!!) and if you have any comments, bitches, gripes... well there is this thing called a post, and...

taking some badly needed time off from the scene so I hope to see everyone again in the very near future!!! Thanks for taking the time out to read!!!!
