| My FULL-ON Meltdown4 Experience w/ headliner reviews and tracklistings!
I had no problems finding the venue but as I drive to the entrance I noticed $8 for parking. I refused to be ripped off and and drove around to the back to park for free. The front door security was a bunch of assholes. At first they wouldn’t let me in with my demo CD’s but I told them to talk to Jeremy about it and they said alright. Then they were giving me problems with me temporary paper ID until I found my UTD ID which proved I was of age. That’s one of the worst experience I’ve ever had with entrance security. Anyhow, onto the party.. When I got inside I noticed this was the very same venue in which I attended my first concert back in ’97. I have fond memories of seeing Incubus, Sugar Ray and 311 that night.. For this event though setup was a lot different. The main room was a big rectangle with the stadium seating on one side and the stage/sound on the other. In the middle was more than enough space to dance but unfortunately not too many people were. I was also disappointed by the lack of lasers. Even for us sober partygoers, its always nice to see lasers. The sound was also off, the bass seemed maxed out to the point of making the subwoofer sound like they it were blown, it really bother me during Bond’s set but thankfully was fixed before PVD. As I met up with some more friends I walked over to the barn room where Damon Williams was laying down a thick hard techno set. There were actually quite a few folks in the barn at the time, it was prolly the most crowded set in that room for the night because as soon as the trance started in the main room it was getting more and more crowded.. I headed on back to check out the ending of Dawson’s set and was pleasantly surprised to hear he lightened up quite a bit. His mixing the whole night was decent but nothing suberb, a few of the transition were really iffy. He was going somewhere with that SHOKK remix of DJ Energy – Excelis but he could have played some more bangin trance not to mention some NEW records. He ended his set with a nice uplifter called “On The Run” by Tilmnan Uhrmacher…it’s a nice track but I’ve had the record for a year now. Overall thought it was a good warm-up for the Scott Bond who I was highly anticipating.. He started his set off with some lackluster prog track but he seemed to be having some difficulties with the turntables. He had to completely turn the table off and start with another track Thankfully this was fixed before the end of the set. After that he went faded into “Summer Calling” which is produced in part by Josh Gabriel of San Francisco. He then transitioned into the new Gouryella – Ligaya and continued to play a bunch of epic tunes including Lvee’s new lolo – melody. I wasn’t digging his set too much at this point so I left to go check out some Terry Mullan who was playing some deep prog house which isn’t my cup of tea When I got back into the main room I recognized the new Player One remix of Faithless – Insmonia bond played which prolly got the best reaction of any track during his set. He finally ended his set with a white label I have called Project Medusa Vs. Exor – Moonshine. Though the mixing was pretty much right on overall I thought Bond’s set was more fit for a dance club than a massive and left me feeling a but disappointed because I expected more from a Gatecrasher resident who plays all over Europe. SCOTT BOND Green Court- ? Some Cheesy Male Vocal Track Gouryella – Ligaya (Original Mix) Andain – Summer Calling (Airwave Rmx) Lolo-Melody Player One- Insomnia (Embargo Rmx) Marco V- Atlanta Project Medusa Vs. Exor – Moonshine ---ended with this. I had no expectations for Dave Aude and he spun a surprising good set. The first half of his set was mostly hard tech house and seemed to play a lot of Kid Icarus’s favs including that “Ecuador” track. I also noticed some Nirvana in his set at one point. As his set progressed he got more and more trancey. I recognized Flash’s The Day After and he peaked with Xposure – Magic Impulsefrom the Bonzai record label. He really got the crowd into it with that track and prepared the crowd for the man. DAVE AUDE Nirvana – Lithium (Remix?) Someone said It is Tim Healy - Electric Tease Flash- The Day After Xposure – Magic Impuls --Xposure =MIKE= PUSH..the crowd went crazy Before PVD’s set was to start though I wanted to check out the hype behind Luke Slater. Unfortunately as I’m walking in he tranwrecks really bad and pretty much killed what little vibes were left . The true techno fans like Christy and Juan did however did stay and I chatted with them about techno meanwhile Luke dragged on with some decent tech house and techno tracks. I only stayed for about 15 minutes then when back in to the main room for the last time. Paul started his set hard with a new 2002 rmx of my fav acid trance track of all time though I still think the original which infinitely better. He followed it up with some tech trance that was absolutely massive! Sometime after he played Katana’s new remix of Cristalle which I also have on my new demo . He then threw down a HUGE comb which is his brand new unreleased remix of Arctic which featured some lovely Norwegian vocals and got the main rooms going totally nuts. Throughout the night he was reading the crowd like a true pro and calmed us down with some uplifting trance and brought back in the hard stuff as needed. He didn’t peak his set once or twice like the DJ’s before, he kept got on going with the cycle and completed floored us with his last 15 minutes or so. After For An Angel I could sense he wanted to play more but the lights came on and he was forced to wrap it up. As he was about to walk off the crowd chanted his name and busted out one of his CD-R’s, Marco V. – I Feel You. He would have played more but the asshole security told him to end it. Meanwhile he was signing autographs the security proceeded to rudely kick our asses out of the main room through the side door. I manged to trainspot pretty much the whole set with a little help from the tranceaddict crew. This is, from memory in the best order I can remember..there are about 4 or 5 tracks missing. PAUL VAN DYK Megamind – Taub 2002 ---the first track w/ Twilight Zone sample Dark Monks Insane ---Steve Murano baby! Viframa- Cristalle (Katana Rmx) Hemstock & Jennings – Arctic (Pvd Rmx) –the bomb of all bombs! Katoi - Touch You Bass Tarts – Summer In Space Klea - Tic Toc (Pvd Re-Edit) Blank & Jones - Watching The Waves (Remix?) Solid Sleep- Club Attack (Pvd Rmx) Luc Poublon-Quantum Leap Marco V. – Revolt --sneaked In For An Angel! Nitrometane – Time To Die ID --a very hard tech track, sounds like rmx of Fischerspooner Emmanuel Top-Turkish_Bazaar 2002 Reloop - Fucking Society (Pvd Re-Edit) Underworld – Born Slippy (Pvd’s classic unreleased Rmx) ---a special treat, he almost never plays this. Three Drives- Carrera (new vandit remix)—WOW!!! ![]() Pvd- For An Angel ENCORE: Marco V- I Feel You (Pvd Rmx) ---I feeeeeel you! What an AMAZING night! PVD ‘s set was by far the best and way better than his Hyperia set a year ago. Likewise his set was truly different than any I’ve ever heard from him. He played MUCH MUCH harder than he does in Europe and even quite a bit different than his sets in NYC and Boston on that same weekend. But it was different in a good massive way. Texas was educated last Saturday. Thanx to Jeremy Word for throwing Meltdown TRANCE ENERGY style. It was also nice to meet up with Ward, Jeremy Baker, Izzy, Armando, Jamie, Courtney, Karen, Stevo, Juan, Christy along with almost the entire Coppell crew. If you got a demo CD from me please send me some feedback. Peace & Respect, Jayson Last edited by SynonymouS; 11-07-02 at 03:00 PM. |

me point exactly lots of old records unless its PVD B&J or marco V Mauro Piccato etc one of the few hard trance borderline nu nrg guys who give trance a very ugly name there was absolutely nothing class about his performance OTOH luke slater was were the DIRT was dont dis the djs----- DJ. OTOH a name not mentioned (i dont know why) TERRY MULLAN OWNED THE NIGHT CHICAGO STYLE not one mistake enough Said he is the man like jeremy said.... BTW i have heard many djs slip beats happens to the best of us i doubt he wrecked though you try mixing without having 10 minutes to get ready---->PVD still slipped a couple times and not one mix was longer than 60 secs he was one record in one out...... i have lost any and all respect i HAD for PVD his DJ set was the equivalent of Subpar actually probably worse i have never seen a dj play so many of his own tracks. Hell synonymous i would rather watch you.PVD is another overpayed SPARE with a big household name. You kids should just get over the HEADLINER BULLSHIT cause ANY HUMAN who can ACTUALLY spin can do what PVD did up their.... I own seven ways one of my favorite cds some ppl just should stick to what they are good at i guess in his case it would be miking the music. i am sorry if i offended anyone. I had a great time at MD4 its just Terry Mullan wasnt even mentioned i took a deep listen to each DJ he was the best technically and overall straight up. Go see Kid Icarus play he will give you some hard trance nasty style TECHNICALLY MIXED with a bunch of everything that makes your mind go berserk. my analysis is PVD played in the only heated room from 12-2 hmmmm..... just my Opinion again sorry if you are offended. AGAIN I ENJOYED MYSELF THAT NIGHT i just think if you have been spinning as long as him you should be much better IMO. |

Believe me, if he did, i'd have to say something, that was the climax of the night, for me atleast. Listen to H&J - Arctic (PVD Remix) ![]() Just another title conflict issue. Though both are correct. I am not aware of any releases yet, other than possible promo cd's. | |

| D n B Barn
I was in the D n B barn from 12-2 listening to DJ Lee & DJ Storm from the UK. DJ Storm: she rocked the place! Yes, the main room was the very warmest. My boyfriend & I went in the main room from 10-10:30; he was being REAL nice to me, because he DOES NOT like trance! But he liked watching me dance to Trance. The bass was way way way off the whole time in that room. In my opinion the Vibe was not that great, not that many people dancing. We walked around, and found his friends, who would not go in the D n B Barn YARD!: because it was FREEZING and the floor was dirt. We went back for the DJ Lee and Storm from the UK. They were really great. DJ Storm was completely old school, and ROCKED. I liked how DJ LEE had his head phones on his head & across his forehead & not on his ears..........it made me laugh! DJ Storm was friendly, and was DJing in a tank top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While most of us other girls were FREEZING .........The vibe was great in there, dispite the cold, and I had a great time shivering in the cold.....................the best part was my thoughtful boyfriend, Jj who took off his shirt to give to me, and he looked great topless! He held me tight as much as possible so that I could warm up and enjoy DJ Storms set. (Thank you baby!) (I was the stupid girl who had a small>small>see-through top on with holes in the sleeves! DUMB ME!) Some nice girl gave me her gloves to wear, and some guy gave me his sweatshirt for awhile, and my boyfriend took off his only shirt for me to keep me warm! Thumbs up to all the DnB DJs that night, and MC's.... RedHot1: Jthjunglist's girl |
