My girlfriend and I didn't feel too good yesterday, but there was no way in hell I was going to miss Andy Farley coming to town. So we showed up there around 11:30 or so. Last time I saw Joey Beltram, I was not too impressed (but it was over a year ago). However, last night he threw down some really good house. Etards were being etards...badasses were being retards... I was sort of suprised by the emptyness....I mean, Beltram and Farley should have brought bigger crowds in, even independently of each other. But....whatever, I guess. Farleytime! Andy Farley showed up, and let loose on the tables. I know he's not as favored in the UK as he used to be, but it was still a pounding good set. Played some kick ass tracks, like Bad Ass and some of his own productions. I can sort of see why Farley isn't as well held as he used to be. As I expected, he spun in Khemical Imbalance and Bring It Back, as he does in pretty much every set of his I've heard. I love both of those tracks, so it's cool, but if I heard them everytime he spun, I guess I wouldn't be quite so inclined to run out and see him. But, it was still a damn good set. I can't say anything about anybody else who spun, because we left around 2 or so, to see a giant group of brothas and sistas coming down the skreet and collaborating into an entertaining skreet fight.

Unfortunately we got there right as Joey waas going on - so we missed JWords set. That was a bummer.. Nonetheless - We copped some seats upstairs directly overlooking the booth to get some good pics and a good vantage point on the entire night. I noticed Beltram to play a great, very pounding set. Maybe it's just my tired busted ears - but I heard no house music last night! Well, I guess hard house - -but when I think house, I;m thinking Greyhoud records and stuff. Beltram really unleashed on the crowd with a barrage of thumping basslines that were sometimes so powerful that the high lines (dare I say "melody") were lost. He used the mixer to its fullest with lots of sweeping filters being triggered and a fat flange here and there. I was most impressed with "the Prophet" remix he dropped at the end of his set. It's always a pleasure to hear CJ Bolland being played out live. My single biggest constructive criticism to his set is his stage persona. He looked very lackluster and almost bored at times. I kept peeking around the booth to catch a foot tapping or something. But he was stone cold stoic and in 'machine-mode'. And that's ok - it's just funny to me, personally, b/c he was on an elevated stage, front-and-center, commanding all attention - and he was.. well... really *quiet*. Beyond that superficial criticsm, the set was technically superb. I really liked the fast crossfader action and baby scratching that he threw in a lot. Andy Farley - I thought he rocked it! Musically, the tracks selected were right in line for a natural build off of what Beltram was playing. Some old tunes - but all were on point and made sense in the context of what the night was supposed to be about. His stage presence was great as he was smiling and pointing to the crowd and even sigining autographs during his mixing (!). He seems to be a very patient and easygoing person! While I am sure taht Beltram has lots of Tutrntable tricks up his sleeve - Farley really busted em all out last night. There were times where he would just start pulling 5 or 6 recs out of his bg and start stackin em up next to the tables. Then he'd just burn thru em in 5 minutes. NUts! Almost hip-hop style at some points as the mixes would be so fast with so many tricks and stabs thrown in. Then he'd just straight up mix 2 tracks for like 5 minutes, swapping basslines and playing a lot of point-counterpoint till the records ran out. Definitley a very versatile DJ who looked like he was having the time of his life. To sum it all up for me personally, I think its safe to say that I'm not a *huge* fan of the music being played last night - but just to sit up high and watch those 2 go off last night was so badass. My buddy and I kept yelling at each other, "you see that shit!", "Oh hell yea!" --- -so that's a pretty damn good night to me! Cheers, Nate

AS far as I could tell it was neither. I have the CJ original mix and have heard the oakenfold one. To me, it just sounded like elements of the track and the bassline. ALmost a dub. Pretty cool. There was no preacher vocals though, which is my favorite part. That song scares the shit outta me in a dark and moody place. "You think he cares..? HE Doesn't! Come With Me!" -N8

Great night! Fourth time to see Beltram, he pleased me yet again. Farley was cool as well and exceeded my expectations. Even though it's an old track, I went nuts when he dropped Are you Ready? Great way to end a great night! Of course, Jeremy kicked the shit out of all of them... but that's always the case. BOO to those that missed Jeremy's set! BOO! That fucking tribal-esque drop was SICK, as was the breakbeat segment it lead into...Thanks for keeping this show cheap, I got to see three of my favorite DJs for under $15!!!

I remember when Jeremy Word told me that he had booked Andy Farley... he was so EXCITED.... he said that he was bringing this DJ for HIM... Jeremy Word works hard for Dallas... always bringing us headliners that WE want to see... and on occasion he brings who he wants to see. He wanted to see Andy Farley... and I respect that... so I was going out come hell or high water! My friend Sarah bailed... and Trent was hurting bad with his wisdom teeth coming in... so it was just me and Sonic 17. Jeremy/Kid Icarus' set was good... a bit all over the place... but good none-the-less. Joey Beltram was 100 times better than the last time he was here. He was banging it hard! Then... I was outside... and I heard Andy Farley hit the decks... his opening track said it all. Overall, his set was great... he knew when to drop it down a notch... when to let up on the banging... and when to drop it hard again. Some of his tracks has some melodious undertones to them as well... which was nice. I would hope that he comes back someday... maybe when he does I will be more awake and not have a headache.. so I can dance and really get into it! PS- If I seemed aloof that night... it's because I was in a bitchy mood and didn't want to mingle. I really enjoyed chatting with Sonic 17 coming/going though! Thanks for being my pal!
