OMG. Damn. What can I say. Awesome music, awesome vibe, awesome people. Slam-positive education Egypt egypt-heard that twice Energy Flash-heard that twice Bucketheads-The bomb(daaaaaaaaaaamn) can't really think right now, very tired, still very happy about the whole event. John Vella-Too old skool even for me Mandoog-Nasty ass old skool breaks 4 Peace-Playing shit that I heard in high school..going off for sure Mac IX-Made my fucking night, felt like I was back at Fishdance..Not bad for being off the decks for 2 years Merritt-Had everyones head spinning. Brings back a lot of memories Trey Styles-Too fu#$ing hard to comprehend, ears still ringing,,,slow down please. Manny...easy on the drink tickets... *vomits*

| hardcore you know the score.......
I rinsed out the video bar proper like. Dropping classics. Everyone was having it. We had a private full on mask hysteria rave and it was the dopest thing I have ever had the honor to be a part of in what feels like forever. It felt like I was throwing a basement party and 50 of my best oldskool friends showed up. I hope we can do this again one day. Thanks to everyone who played and thanks especially to those who came up from Austin to hear me. Also thanks to those that raised their hands and shouted with every break. Big thanks to my local supporters for coming to the LL (a place a few of them wouldn't dare bother with otherwise), you know who you are. HUGE thanks to my wife Stacie (anastazia5) for playing MC and pumping up the crowd. Lastly a big thanks to Stacia and Manny for having the balls to put it all together. It was truly magical. Yeah, I had a blast! Only got to hear a few ppl's sets though, but what I heard was off the chain! I knew it was going to be a fun night when I walked in and heard some Kraftwerk being thrown down. Manny even played my all time favorite, Twilight 22's "Electric Kingdom". I almost dropped to the floor to do a helicopter spin. :P I only had about 20 mins before I had to go on so I quickly checked out the video bar and it looked as though John Vella had everything locked down. He was playing some seriously old acid house that had me reminiscing. My set seemed to go over well. I got appreciation kisses by like 3 or 4 old skool (but still hot as hell) chicas. Ahhhhh, it's good to be a house DJ. Here is my tracklisting for those interested. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ E.G. FULLALOVE - DIDN'T I KNOW (DIVAS TO THE DANCEFLOOR) - EMOTIVE *1994* APHROHEAD - IN THE DARK WE LIVE *DAVE CLARK* - EMOTIVE *1994* ARMAND VAN HELDEN - I FEEL IT - STRICTLY RHYTHM *1994* SUGAR - THE FEELING - AQUA BOOGIE *1995* BUCKETHEADS - THE BOMB - HENRY ST. *1994* BYRON STINGILY - GET UP - NERVOUS *1997* RHYME TIME PROD. - YOU AND ME - CLEVELAND CITY *1994* TODD TERRY - KEEP ON JUMPIN' - MANIFESTO *1996* GUSTO - DISCO'S REVENGE - MANIFESTO *1996* JUNGLE BROTHERS - I'LL HOUSE YOU (ACCAPELLA) *not sure but really old, possibly late 80's* JAMIROQUAI - SPACE COWBOY *TODD TERRY* - WHITE *early 90's* THE GOODMEN - DAMN WOMAN - FRESH FRUIT *1994* THE GOODMEN - GIVE IT UP - FFRR *1993* URBAN COOKIE COLLECTIVE - REST OF MY LOVE - PULSE 8 *1993* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I figured I would play more mid-90's stuff (my favorite period for house) so that I could still please the old skoolers, and not scare off the nu skoolers. However, I must say I was pleasantly surprised to see how well much of the old house (particularly the early acid house stuff) and techno where received. John Vella and Britton where going way back. I heard Britton drop Maurice's "This Is Acid", D.Mob's "We Call It Acieed", and V.I.M's "Maggies Last Party". The crowd was eating it up. I guess good music just never dies. ![]() Other tracks worth mentioning that I heard: Boston Bruins - Raise Your Hands, Nation 12 - Here The Drummer, Altern 8 - Activ-8, Joey Beltram - Energy Flash, Mr. Kirks Nightmare, Gino Latino - Welcome, 2 Blind Mice - Bomb Scare. WOOT!!!! Wanted to stay longer but the group of peeps that my wife brought just didn't understand. *note to self.....bring seperate car next time* Looking forward to the next one, and Manny, never give me a shot of rumplemints (sp?) ever again!!! *feels quesy* I enjoyed looking at all the old flyers again, I remembered so many of them (I found my name on 5 of them). All in all, a very enjoyable walk down memory lane. Much respect to all the DJ's who played and those that put the event together. Peace. BTW, I'd like to see the tracklisting's of what you other guys played, so post away.

Set of the night, hands down. I was in a hideous mood for most of the night(ask anyone around me), but that was exactly what I needed. Awesome set Tray, you still got the juice old man! ![]() Rob's set was good too, but I was too damn tired to hang around. Ash played some cool stuff as well, the Slam 'Positive Education' -> Joey Beltram 'Energy Flash' -> CJ Bolland 'Horsepower' section was great to hear. Thank you kind sir. If they have more techno & hardkore breakbeat at the next one, I might have to hit the LL a second time. Thank you Stacia, and well done.

All I wanna say is Tray Stylz rocked my muthafuckin brain! I can never get enough old skool 'ardkore. Tray played the set I was waiting for all night long. The vibe last night was thick as shit. I had to hobble around all night due to the penecilin shot in my ass, but couldn't help but shake it when the 'ardkore came screaming through. I'm handicapped today and I thank you all for that. ![]() "Cookin, cookin...cookin up ya brain!"

i told you! i told you!! I TOLD YOU!!! this night was going to RULE. as predicted, the night basically came across like a big ol' family reunion. all the youngsters sitting around watching their aunts, uncles and older cousins get drunk and act like fools. "oh, that's my uncly manny, or "manndogg" as he says he used to be called, he always dances like that whenever he hears bucketheads." i made it over to the main room a couple times. it was so tough though. we took over that video bar like nobody's business. one trend we had going in there though: we all ended our sets with a BOMB track! just as you were getting your headphones on and cornering that first track, you'd hear something. your head would turn a little to get a better listen. then you'd hear that first part....then that keyboard part...then the full track. "OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH, no you didn't!!!!" how many times did we hear THAT phrase last night? how many times did 3 or 4 people with amazed expressions on their face run up to the front of the booth....and they were ALL DJ's!!!! who was that bartender in video bar? amy? [sigh] she did me wrong by doing me right with the jack danials all night long. speaking of "all night long".... say what? house music all night long. say what? house music all night long. SAY WAHT!? house music all night long. i heard so many tracks played twice, but that doesn't matter. it was so cool to hear how each person worked their version into their set. Quote:
![]() we kept proclaiming that britton had the "set of the night" in the VB, but that only lasted until Tray got up there. it was a toss up after that. during britton's set, i thought to myself, "he's played nothing but bomb tacks. i guess his set is almost over." looked at the watch....01:17. he was only 1/4 of the way through it!!!!!!!! ![]() everyone talks about wanting to do this again, and you know we will. i talked to a couple different people, and there will most definately be something in the works. i just need to make sure that the place i want to have it at will be able to say Open late enough. [hint? hint?] and for everyone wanting to know, "who was that dj in the video bar?" here's who we were: CLICK ME mucho thanks to stacia and manny for pulling this thing off! mucho thanks to the lizard lounge for dropping the drink prices! (sounds like some of us had too much fun) mucho thanks to everyone i heard say, "i can't believe i came to the LL." you did, and it was worth it. peace, john | |

I can honestly say that last night was the BEST TIME I have had in years. I've seen some good shows/djs, but last night was perfect from start to finish. We got to LL at about midnight. The music was- how should I word this- FUCKING MESMERIZING! Both rooms were slammin the WHOLE time! The vibe was incredible. I did not see ONE SINGLE negative look, glance, or occurance. My friends and I found a cush little spot upstairs to set up camp- and then it was on! No drama- no b.s.- even my friend Jenn had a blast (and I was really worried about her wanting to leave early). My friend Misty and I offered to stay sober and drive the two cars home- so I figured I would just walk around, chill, & mess with all the F*#@ed up peeps (it's so fun ). It took about 30 minutes to set in- and we were dancing our asses off for the next four hours. (I'm 26 AND a smoker- so I consider this an accomplishment... ) No liquid courage- no chemical courage- just the sweet nectar of harmonies and funky beats. Tray Stylz- You had a magic set, man! I just wanted to get DIRTY, you know?! DIRTY, DIRTY, FREAKY! You rocked! It was also nice to see you two- it's been awhile. Rob Vaughan- Old School theme. 3 a.m. Enough said. I saw lots of familiar and friendly faces, and you just gotta LOVE that universal breakbeat dance! And as bad as this may sound, I even ran into my old dealer and we shared a little moment. You know...no words- just a smile and a quick little nod. Props to all involved in putting this together. It was a fantastic evening. I look forward to the next one- hint-hint... ~Amanda~ |

That shit was all about Mac IX. Fantastic job my boy! When you dropped that ol school Armand, that shit was the jam. I heard the last part of John Vellas set too and I was feelin it. I have to admit I did not recognize most of those tunes, but thanks for playing them. Wish I could have caught Rob Vaughan but I cant stay up that late anymore. I am sure the rest of the djs did a great job also. Thanks for the great timez. peash.
