![]() | Jirah at Trees
Oh man, what an utterly phenomenal night! We walked in during the beginning of DJ Uhm's set. He tore it up proper as always. He was followed by Init String who put on their usual impressive performance. Then came Jirah. I knew this guy was good. What I did NOT know is that he was THAT good. He put on an excellent performance and his tracks easily rival those of the big-name psytrance producers. Track after track had me bouncing around Trees like a lunatic. I think there was a really good turnout ![]() Damn, what I heard at Trees tonight was a slice of the future of psytrance IMHO. Where things are headed. A fresh new sound. You remember the first time you listened to some of those old tracks that have become classics for you now? That's how I felt at Trees when Jirah was playing. I'll leave it at that... |

Woo! Good party indeeeeeeeeeeeeeed. We showed up to catch the end of Uhm's set and say hi to everyone. Then init string went on and it's kind of a blur from there. I know the boys in init string ROCKED THE HOUSE and i danced their entiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire set. Thank you guys for once again putting on a performance that rivaled the headliners =) Jirah ..HOLY SHIT! I have to whole-heartedly second what Eiwe said. Jirah was one badass motherfucker. Half his set I was lost in a stream of audio information and dance. And it was great! The best part of the party was when Simone turned to me, looked at her watch and said "Damn, that fucking sucks. It's already 1:45!" -- I LOVE POPPING PSYPARTY CHERRIES! Hooray for the bartenders at Tree's hookin' it up when you get the good Vodka .. My head is still pounding. Thanks to Todd for putting on such an incredible show. Thanks to the Tree's Staph for providing incense at that crucial moment. *wink* Thanks to Troy and Julee for thE *in-fucking-credible* deco. Just a badass party overall, like I said it was gonna be. Good diverse selection of people. I think I even saw Karen and Jeremy Word rock out a little bit to Jirahs set.

I had a blast!! Tim (Jirah) just keeps getting better and better each time I hear him. I can remember when he'd penned one of his first tracks on the computer, and played it (off of the computer) at a party at his sister's house. I was also very impressed by init.string's set. they were up there, working their asses off! why? they've recently lost their hard drive with like a years worth of work on it! and it still sounded great - no, better than great. easily the best performance i've ever seen out of those kids! (and i've seen a few.) Uhm threw down proper, as well. (thanx for the cd, brian!) i didn't get to hear all of his opening set, but had fun with what i did hear. nothing like starting your evening jammin' with some Absolum (and, damn, i though i was the only person dropping that track). Psymbolic did an excellent job (once again) transforming Trees into a visual stunner. I like the new fluro plexiglass peice. and of course, the video feedback and onstage onscreen visuals were the bomb. Everyone needs to use Psymbolic to deco out their party! The world would be a much better place. ![]() All in all, a great time. I got to see sooooooo many people. it felt like my extended family was there! the good vibrations just abounded. Many thanks to PVC for helping us out when we needed it! Also, mucho mucho props to Todd, Matt, and Funkhaven - for being cool kids, for having the faith to build the psy scene in dallas/texas, and for treating their artists and peers the way they deserve! Looking forward to the one this summer! *wink wink*

Thanx to Init String - they did an incredible job, I was completely lost in their set... i don't think i moved from the spot i was in or talked to anyone for at least an hour because i was so involved in it. And Jirah's set ROCKED THE HOUSE!!! There wasn't enough of that night - I wish we could have gone til 6am!! It was great seeing old faces again too... Can't wait for the next one! Thanks Funkhaven |

Sorry for the late post, but I had to recover from that night. Geez where do I start....I walked into Trees that night to see the wonderful deco job put together by Julee and Troy. That center piece was once again an awesome sight to see. Soon I shall I have me one of those. I must say that these two continue to amaze me with the beauty and creativeness that they put out. You two are wonderful people with wondeful vision....keep up the great work. First up was me.......it took me a little while to feel comfortable this evening. I started off by playing some older progressive stuff that I hadn't played in some time. Then I just got harder and harder and harder. I was up and down with playing that evening. Next up was Init. String.......it is great to start to really hear the diversity in yall's music. Each time I hear yall play there are more and more elements added to your music. I look forward to getting your latest stuff from Troy, but I must also admit that I look forward to hearing some more full-on style coming back from yall also. Nonetheless keep doing what yall are doing. Finally Jirah!!!!! OMFG!!!!! I can't believe that USTA hasn't released anything that he has done. His music had me dancing throughout his whole set. Definitely full-on, melodic trance. I could play his music track after track and never be bored with what I would hear. Looking forward towrds later this year when he should blow up on the global trance scene, because as it is I definitely condsider him to be in the upper-eschelon(sp?) of trance producers. Thanks Tim for gracing our ears with your beautiful trance, thanks for the vinyl, and I soo look forward to getting one of your cds. I would like to say how much fun I had @ your party Todd. Funkhaven definitely deserves props foe once again putting together a realy fun trance party. You guys are one of the best crews in Dallas for sure. I look forward to dealing with you all in the future....thanks for letting me, once again, be a part of a great evening. I would also like to thank all the people, old and new that I got to talk with that evening. Everyone of yall helped me put my own performance into perspective that evening, and really left me with many feelings of warmth and joy. Thank you to whomever handed me that cd when I was up spinning in between Init and Jirah...I really like a couple of those tracks, thanks to Ewie's friend(sorry I am really bad with names) that bought me the drink...it was nice to talk with you, thanks to everyone who showed their support for me by dancing your asses of.....that's the biggest compliment anyone could pay to a dj....and believe me when I say even though I may not show it behind the decks I am enjoying myself, and finally big thanks to my wife Jennifer for being out there dancing even though no one else was early on...I love you. I hope everyone enjoys the cd I passed out that night, and I look forward to seeing everyone soon. |

'Twas a great night and I for one had a fun time as those that witnessed my Jackie Chan interpretation afterwards can attest to. Was good seeing many out and about, but I also missed many usual faces. Attendance was a little low, but better than I expected as the event flyers were'nt done until about 1 week before the event, making for a week of offline promo. I'll never get used to seeing people do da freak to Psy Trance, getting that grind on... I did'nt get there until later, thus missing most of Brians set, but liked what I heard especially towards the end. Init String played a great set and started their set off on a very nice more groovy and chuggy tip. Their levels and effects were all inline nicely and as always they sounded very nice. Last but not least was Jirah! I continue to be blown away by Jirah and how much he has and continues to evolve musically. I started to really take notice and started really being impressed almost two years ago. If you have heard me play out over the last year or so, you have heard me play at least one track by Jirah. Over the last year he has started to progress in an exponential way. What he makes today is the style that I am most passionate for and seek out. He represents a perfect blend of hard/full on while retaining his progressive and melodic roots. Eiwe already summed ip up very well and he is still just as down to Earth as ever. I don't just say that because Tim is my friend. If USTA does'nt get their act together soon, other labels will. His tracks are already being played by some of the most respected in the Psy Trance scene and he become a local favorite on the West cost, which is very hard to break into for an outsider. Dallas is a serious talent generator. Maybe it's because there aint shit else to do here.

I had an amazing time... It was right up there with the Infected Mushroom show! I just wanted to say thanks again to Funkhaven. Seriously... You all are a very well rounded and diverse crew it seems. You guys have thrown all types of parties with all types of music and I think what you do is really good for Dallas. Keep it up guys!!! ![]() I hope the show was successful for you.. It was a success to me thats for sure! Jirah has always rocked even from when he lived in Dallas. Sooo I wasn't surprised at all. Everyone rocked it that night, end of story. Oh and we hit up DMA afterwards and ran into a whole bunch of party peeps there! Shouts out to Burufunk (Leaha & Curtis), Perfectflow, Fernindio & Yvonne, and Ed Krunkizio! I came home with about 10 CDs that night, my stereo is happy. Thank you to all the DJs that hook me up w/music... |

Oh ya, I wanted to add that now that I've had the chance to listen to Dj Uhm's cd I would like to rate it. It is the exact sound that I love in trance. I wish he would play more stuff like that out. It is full on but still funky and prog. I thought it very beautiful. And I'm glad I scored a *free* one...hehehe Sooner or later he'll be charging. ![]() sabin |
