 | club wes farewell goes off with a HELL YEAH...and a TOO BAD YOU CRAZIES WERE IN MIAMI
the thought of putting last nights events into words is ludicrous... but the musical mind fuck we got deserves some mad props club wes said its farewell (or so they say) to the party scene last night with a rounding of dallas talent...ranging from the fiesty house beats of 4-peace.... to the intellegently twisted soul grabbing smorgas board that was layed down by maetrik.... guests (all of whom were "house-stamped" soon after entering the party) moved between a variety of rooms and the "cigarette smoking front porch" (club wes is a smoke free environtment)... the only drawback to the evening was trying to enjoy the massaging couch while 2 differant streams of music flooded into the ears with such equal balance it banshee-screemed to be beat matched studio wes (still deserving a more dolphin friendly name) continually supported guests chillin on the blue couch listening to live mixes by ash...wes...matt...gary.... and a myriad of others slipping in records at a rate that miss shay couldnt begin to keep up with...the studio, being a more intimate space ..was suprisingly where the vibe was more "dance friendly" and room was found (amidst the couch.. computer...assortment of chairs ...and streaming line to the bathroom) to tear the carpet up ....certainly by dancejunkee and on rare occcasion miss crackhead herself  *insert review of someone who gave the studio more attention than the occasional get-your-groove-on shout out* "club wes" (soon to be disbanded for a workout haven) was where the night got sick'n'twisted....we were eased into the farewell by nerio sometime b4 11..and the music continued to flow till wes let his dog out to pee some 12 1/2 hrs later....this was the room where talent played homage to bedroom djs ....playin what could only be truely understood by such a select few it gould never be unleased in any other club stetting....brian aneurysm kickeck off the "producer of languid dreams" mindfuck...layin down deep dubby (and of course dolphin approved) techy tracks...Bernard even layed down some monoloake for those of us able to say "table in da house"... the austrian *what did they call you in that german article* set the stage for blake and stefan... tag teamin maddess ranging from ambiant breakage to dance-your-ass-off tech house grooves... somewhere in the midst of the musical experimentaion i witnessed several disscussions about the means of production between mario, eric, and bernard....this readied my crackedskull for the sounds of maetrik....who responded to my "make me scared" challange with a ...lets give em a bit of everything and leave the scarin' up to them.....the off-kiltered beauty that was displayed through each selection was a mind opening experience...intelligence and music rarely go so well togeather... eric entity can make me dance as well as a disco agent...but on a level of depth rather than playfullnes...deep..abstract..vocals accompanied by rythems ran over by an 18 wheeler and reconstucted in a seamingly haphazard manner...the smartbombs dropped were deep and soulfull but with a natural quality void of negativity.... maetrik proved that less is more..and dissonance is ever fullfilling..... mantecon (hehe mario has a dj name) took over at the hight of eric's mind warp..and flawlessly transitioned ( if it can be called such) to the essence of mario....(love him)...love his abstract minimal intelligent music that helped give me a respect for maetrik as a producer prior to ever hearing him live... my bias towards mario prevents me from saying anything other than...."word!...you played 3 tracks in a row i know from the depths of my soul...because you have used them to move me at least once before".. throughout the warp of the musical minds nerio soaked it all in and as a result layed down a set unlike any other i have yet to hear from the boy...he joined the ranks of the late night music appreciatives...making me do a double check..to see if kenan hadn't snuck in from miami...(or any of the other eric's resumed on the tables) MADD propps to mike... when the bedroom djs took over the show wasnt over....niki(?) layed down some wicked records with the ease of a pro... still in the mindset of musical mindwarp....and everytime i started to get sleepy gary would floor me wide awake...raising my thumbs up in excitement while squinting out the midmorning sun....with music selection like that.... gary is already steps above many "seasoned" djs infultrating the "scene" a replay of the "club wes finalle" none of us will ever have ...but wes was havin a hard time turning down a 100 bucks to host another party next weekend... love and respect to all the talented folks that i got to meet and to those who continue to impress me more each time i experiance their musical artform...thanks wes (this was written by a sleep deprevated crackhead without regaurd to spelling or typing errors)  shay Last edited by vertigoal; 03-24-03 at 03:23 PM. |

the only thing cooler than that review would have been to actually been invited and experienced it for myself. I didn't do shit last night.

Let me fall over and cry my eyes out that I missed this party and went to miami instead! God forgive my soul for not going to a party that was intentionally put on the same day as miami so that the "crackheads" wouldn't show up! I wouldn't have gone to that party if midgets were skull fucking dead turtles and passing out $1000 dollar bills-cause that would be a site to see! Bunch of hypocrits. I'm glad I was tanning on the beach and dodging hookers and bums on Collins while still drinking til 8 in the morning! The friends I was with are true friends! And I'm glad I spent every last minute with them! |

Hey shay ... thanks for the kind words ... While I don't neccesarily think a private party should be reviewed on a public message board, I'll put in my 2 cents and say thanks to Matt, Ash, Nerio, Nikki, Maetrik, Manteconn, Bernard, Stefan & Blake Potter, Mike, Gary, (and anyone else I'm forgetting) for laying down proper tunes all night long. Especially that 3 hour marathon 4-Peace set ... Definatly had some good times in this old house the last 4 years, next new years I get to party at someone elses place for a change! -Wes
