| Dallas and progressive house
Well, I think for the few people who knew what was going on last night would say that was the best live set of music they probably ever heard. The only reason the place wasnt crazy is one simple fact. Dallas has to be the worst major city for dance music in the nation. I mean I was going around talking to people and they were like "we are just here b/c there is a rave, he is playing to slow". I mean my God come on. Sasha=best Dj in the world, no doubt about it sound=good bass, mid bass, highs were distorting, light=bad ass crowd=please Dallas needs to get a clue. Sorry for the negativity but man I have had enough. Last edited by Skent; 12-30-01 at 05:26 PM. |

If you think Dallas is bad, come to Austin. UK HArd House is played by almost every local playing. They really don't have a grasp on the definition of progression and this goes for the dj's and party kids. It's sad. Cali? I've moving to London.

after last night, I'm in full agreement with you. I never thought I'd hear this said, but here it goes. I became a jaded raver after Sasha. And Sir Markis, well, at least Austin draws more progressive house talent than Dallas does. I'm tryin' to remember, but, iirc, you guys have gotten Max Graham(not SO much so, but a step up from the Tiestos/Micros of the world that dallas draws), Sander K, Danny Howells, and, more than likely, Way Out West in spring. Apparently, Nick Warren has promised a Texas date, but I can just about guarantee you it'll end up in Austin, and if not there its Houston. I really feel for ya on the UK Hard House front though. If I ever had to listen to more than an hour of that absolute shite, the reaction would be something equivalent to that of a junglist locked in a happy hardcore room. Crow |

Well at least in Austin people get into the music. I mean every time I have seen D:fuse there (who has a very similar style to Sasha) people go crazy. It is just being a progressive house Dj and I have been in Dallas for almost a year I now I dont even want to spin. I mean it seriously is so bad here and I have really tried to give it a chance. People who have not been to other cities like new york LA or even miami (too much cheese trance) really have no idea how lame it is here. Progressive house is ruling the world and its sad most people dont even have a clue on what is going on. I mean to hear that his set was boring. Omg are you crazy, there was so much going on musically I could barely follow what he was doing. It is sad people just want it loud fast and with a good kick, and the ocassional siren or whatever. BTW if anyone is really into progressive house and would like to hear my demo please leave your address. I really havent even bothered passing it out b/c of the scene here. |

Yea Noah and Deren did bring exclusive talent, they are no longer doing shows and what you have left is 5 dollar parties in the same venue over and over with the exact same dj's who have no business in front of crowds. I've been called several times to be booked at these shows and when I request to be paid, I get laughed at because so many "newbie" dj's will do it for free. I hold a residency at one of the most succesfull Friday nights in Central TX and have held it every Friday since memorial day. I feel i've earned the right to get paid. As far as passing out demos, it's the same down here. I don't even bother wasting my time. The scene is dispating everywhere but I think TX is getting hit the hardest.
