Ferry Corsten/DJ Rap - Minneapolis 11-8 - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

Hahahaha.... yeah, so how many of YOU were there???

Well... now that I live all the way up here and I have to miss all the cool stuff going on back home, I'm just gonna rub your little noses in how AMAZING this party was!
First of all... this is my first party since I moved up here. I'm used to Epik parties where I know people, I know the venues, etc. I really wasn't counting on much when I realized that there was hardly any promoting done for this show. So, I was like.... Sweet... Ferry Corsten is coming here, hardly anyone seems to care, should be a light crowd..... I'm SO THERE!!!!
So there's this club here called "The Quest". It seems like the place to be if you want to see the bigger DJ's that come to town. I actually checked this place out earlier this week when "MTV's Headbangers Ball" swept through here... but that is another story....
So anyway, the club isn't bad. 3 bars, 2 levels, a side room that is decorated so you feel like you are outside and has a big fountain in it, pretty good sound system, no dress code that I was aware of. No re-entry, though, which sucked at the end of the night when my group got split up and I needed my coat-check ticket.
So we show up kind of early because ladies got in FREE before 11p.m. (No joke.... even for Ferry Corsten!) My friend Ryan actually flew in from NYC just to hang with us that night, so we got our drink on and found us a prime spot with a great view of the stage.
The first DJ I think was local, and wasn't all that great... never did figure out what his name was... again, not much promoting was done...
Then DJ Rap was on.... and I must say, I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of her just from what I have heard in the past.... but HOLY MONKEY... she TORE IT UP!!! Not with DnB, either... with Breaks and Hard House!!! DANG!!! I think I stood there with my mouth wide open for most of her set.... when I wasn't dancing my ass off.... she was tearing up the mixer, throwin out all kinds of tricks.... I really was IMPRESSED! They announced at the end of her set that this was her first House set EVER. I give mad props to DJ Rap... especially being a girl myself... she proved she could hang with the big boys that night!!!
So then Ferry was up. I expected a truly amazing set, and that is EXACTLY what we got!!! He threw down all the tracks I hoped he would, and he just put out the best vibe... he was having so much fun working the crowd. DJ Rap jumped down into the crowd right next to me right before he threw down "Punk" and we were like singin and dancin and just having a blast... it really was so much fun!!!! I was like 2 rows from the stage, so I was right up in there. I have to say, also, that there was a HUGE crowd, and it seemed like they knew who he was! EVERYONE within 100 feet of the stage was on their feet dancing, arms in the air, screaming and cheering... I was just surprised. I really thought that nobody was gonna show for this party.
One cool thing, also, was the promoting crew that threw the party also integrated this "Matrix" theme into the party...all the visuals on the screens were scenes from the matrix, everyone got a key when they got there to unlock the "Mystery Box" that was full of CD's and other stuff... of course mine didn't work... and there were about 5 people dressed up in full costume as different characters from the movie, and at times they would get on stage (a big stage) behind the DJ and act out some of the fighting scenes, or just walk up there and pick up a phone that was sitting on a little table, whatever... it was kinda cool... very good vibe, very fun, the crowd showed much respect.... AND I got Ferry's autograph!!!
So, after my man and Ryan had about 20 Jack-and-Cokes, and I was up front the whole night, they were too drunk to find me... well, Ryan found me eventually.... so Justin LEFT me there!!!! And took my COAT!!!! In MINNEAPOLIS in NOVEMBER!!!! Yeah, so I was pissed... luckily Ryan did find me and we hopped into a cab. When we got home I ripped my drunk husband a new asshole and eventually let him pass out. (It's not that often that he screws up like that!! I had to take advantage of the moment!) Needless to say, it was a fun night despite the drama at the end... Ryan, if you're reading this - thanks man! You saved me!!!
Awesome night... just though I would pass that on to you guys...

I[m trying to get in good with some people here to try to get Epik DJ's to spin up here somehow... and I promise I won't let you get booked during a blizzard!!! (well... I'll try!!) BTW... if you have any DEMO's - any of you - round them up and send 'em to me..... along with anything else (flyers, business cards, etc.). Karen, we need to talk, too... I'll try to call ya tonight... busy woman!!! I have a good idea to share with you....
