What happened to the Lizard Lounge?? - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

Me and some friends dropped by our old stomping grounds when we were in town last weekend. It was a sad site. For years you could go in that club and see people dancing and sweating their asses off all night long. It didn't look that way @ all last weekend. With the exception of a few people..most were just standing around kind of bobbing their heads a little to the drum and bass the dj's were playing in the main room. It's probably the least responsive crowd i've ever seen. Please tell me that it is not this way every single weekend! Please tell me the Dallas scene still has more going on in it than what was @ the Lounge Saturday. At least there wasn't an mc laying down a track on top of the drum and bass. I'm not trying to come across like i'm dissing the Dallas scene because I'm not...further...i'm not dissing drum and bass either because i've listened to it for years. But if the crowds not feeling it...heh..move on to the next episode.

I believe you went to Lounge on friday, not saturday....it was a special event.....and it was a alot more active than what you are saying.....in my opinion

your right ...it was friday. I dunno ..i've been out of the Dallas scene for a awhile but "back in the day" people would be drenched in sweat getting off to a mixture of house and acid breaks. Yeah..the crowd wasn't totally inactive but it was nothing like the early 90's :O) that makes sense though if it was a special event.

not like that bro...the vibe was different is all i'm saying...music was slamming... crowd was doing more standing and watching than dancing..I can say that cause i've seen both crowds..It's all good though! Not trying to start an argument are anything. On the other hand it was cool to see that many people digging drum and bass in a Dallas club...i could have never imagined that either back then ..soo....no worries :O)

That was a decent show...and I had a great time. So some kids don't know how to dance to dNb yet. dNb hasn't really been played at the lounge for very long...you gotta give people who havn't been exposed to the music some time.

I'll be honest...I was bobbing my head and having just as much fun being nonsweaty and listening to the mixing quality and disecting the tracks...rather than dancing around and getting all sweaty.

Everyone likes to party differant.

Plus Gilbert is the man.
