So, the cable guy came today. I had to come home and wait for the technician to arrive.

They actually showed up at 2:00 PM sharp. I was SHOCKED!

So, they plug in one box... nothing. Can't get any reception. Plug in another box. Nothing. They call their dispatch center... and have to wait on hold (HA!) and finally the dispatcher tells them that it's not working because there is a computer backup. Too many people are trying to connect all at once. Yes, I know this is the story, because he passed the phone to me so I could hear it.

Fine. Whatever.

They tell me it will be up in about 1 hour, he'll call back. He asks me to sign the receipt. Nope. I don't have cable, I'm not signing anything.

He leaves his number and tells me to call in case he doesn't call back.

So, it's 5:00... no reception... nothing. I call him back. OK, he'll be back with another box in about 1 hour.

I really think it's a bigger problem than just a simple box going on here. But I think this guy isn't too bright and isn't going to figure it out.

I bet I have to take another day from work to get this fixed... except I'll probably have to take PTO to do it. Fucked up.

Oh yea... and you guessed who it is I bet.. TIME WARNER CABLE!

is he a contractor for time warner?
did he replace the end of your wires?

i have a good story about Time Warner.

i called them two months ago to have them disconnect it and they said on the phone, "ok, the billing has stopped" and they'd send someone to disconnect.

well, no one came and i stopped receiving bills and yet i still have cable.

yay for me.

silly question I know, but some complexes make contracts with specific cable companies. maybe you should ask your office.

i signed up for webernet service in my place in lewisville. Signed up on the 8th of this month. I move in on the 27th. They cant get me set up until the 6th.

Yea... well, I put in my order to upgrade my cable on July 1st... and the soonest they could put me on the calendar was July 18th. I had to wait 3 weeks to get it.

At one point I had called Direct TV and looked into getting a dish... but I got some Indian (in India!) on the phone who couldn't clearly explain the offer and freebies to me. I just got off the phone.

I should have looked around some more... but I already had TW as my cable provider (I had an A/B box for my cable) and for my cable internet service. So, I just upgraded what I had.

BTW- The cable never did work from the first install. I called the guy back at 5:00 PM and he came back. He then figured out that I had a 1 line connection not 2... which is why it never worked. He finally addressed the real issue and I then got cable. If I hadn't called him back, I know I wouldn't have had cable for another month.
