![]() | Waiting
So we've waited a full term for our baby to be born and he's still not here. ![]() I feel bad for my wife though since she's past due pregnant and the A/C was out almost all weekend here. Don't worry, we kept her cool with fans and the pool. ![]() I never knew waiting for him would be like this. |

![]() | He gets here when he gets here, basically. Plus we're using a mid-wife, so all of our inducing techniques are on the "natural" side of things; i.e. we don't go rushing to the hospital at the first signs steady contractions for her to get pumped up on pitocin. Basically we're doing a lot of walking, she's doing some pumping, and of course the good ol' in-out. ![]() I took the week off from work because we thought she was going nuclear on Friday morning. So I figure after she wakes up from her nap I'm gonna take her on a bumpy ass ride in the ranger. Hopefully he gets here soon.... I can't take this waiting any more! |

To answer Xian's why: Because a hospital birth is designed for the ease of the physician vs. a midwife/homebirth (which we're going to a birthing center with all medical necessities) is that it is done with the comfort of the laboring mother. Granted, she won't be given any drugs, but the midwives she has combined with her mother and sisters are a great support group. They will be able to tell her what her body is going through and why. I've heard of stories where a woman was literally sliced or even snipped from opening to opening so the physician could make her drugged-up pushing get the baby out quicker. On top of that, I've heard of babies being pushed back in because the doc wasn't there and wouldn't get his paycheck if he wasn't there for the actual birth. Pretty fucked up, huh? And Kitty, all full term pregnancies are technically 10 month, with a 4 week period of time counting as a month. |

Elizabeth has gone to a mid wife for her first two sons, and we're going to another mid wife for the baby we're expecting in January. It's true, mothers really dont need all the stuff that DR. gives at the hospital. In asia women have been popping out babies in rice fields for centuries. A mid-wife helps with having a more natural, comfortable birth.
