my cat has fleas

and they are a bitch to get rid of being she's a long hair cat

i've used the medication and i brush her every day, multiple times a day sometimes and they are still there. i may have to bomb my place. i've already bleached the whole fucking place down.

that may be the brand i got, i'd have to go look. it's the stuff you put on the back of their neck. is that what you used?

i actually didnt even see the fleas until today when i brushed her. previously i could only feel the bumps around her neck.

yea fleas are a bitch in the summer. i use frontline but i'm going to switch to advantage bc i've heard it works better

Advantage it is! I just looked at the package and it wasn't Advantage what I used. Going out tonight to get this. Kitty has to be saved!

Advantage works and Frontline does too... both about the same... but once you have the fleas, you have to use the topical solution AND bomb the house at the same time. Advantage and Frontline only kill the fleas that bite. So if there are new eggs on the animal, those eggs will eventually hatch. Wash any bedding that they may sleep on as well, including yours. If you do all this within a day or so of each other, it will fix them. But if you let your cat outside at all, fug-ged-about-it.

Advantage interrupts the fleas' breeding cycle, so it takes a couple months for it to really show the effects. But yea, never hurts to bomb the house too.

EVERYONE is having flea problems this year with all the rain. one of my roommates is a vet tech and she says she hears, "but my cat/dog NEVER gets fleas," like 8 times a day.

yeah, my cat doesn't go outside. but i live on a third floor and i often have open windows and what not so it's not hard to see how fleas could get inside... they just haven't up until now.

do any of you recommend a certain brand of bomb?

and i've combed many of the "eggs" or what looked like eggs out of her... i do this at least once a day. lately i've been doing it twice a day.

and yes, i've already washed the sheets she sleeps on and used some carpet stuff in the carpet and vacuumed a TON. i don't like my cat having fleas and i don't like the idea of my house being the kind of place fleas want to hang out in.

Go to Canine Commisarry on Mockingbird and ask them for a bomb. But be sure to check on the bomb package for what you have to do with the animal. You'll probably have to lock the cat in the bathroom with a towel under the door, then bomb the house and come back a couple hours later.

And you'll still need to re-wash all your stuff too. The key is to get the fleas with all that stuff at once, otherwise it's really hard to get rid of them.

After that, start checking your cat's stool for worms. After fleas bite them, it's pretty common to get worms. The medicine to kill the worms will require a vet visit, but we found some natural ones in a mail order catalogue and they worked great. One pill and it killed the worms in a day or two. I can look at home for the name if you want... just PM me if you see she has worms.

It's horrible this year! and i'm stuck until payday..the fleas are BAD in my apartment and on her..i'll wash her once a week, vaccuum and next thing i know the friggin fleas are all over her belly again.


I hate using chemicals etc..but imma have to get some of this frontline..the fleas are biting me.

Spray down the ground outside of your apartment or house as well to make sure that you're not getting new fleas coming in from the outside after you bomb and/or treat your cat.

I found a flea on one of my kittens yesterday. I'm pretty pissed off because now I have to do a SHITLOAD of stuff, being that I have four cats now. What I did before, I have to do times four. Plus powdering the carpet and washing everything/anything fabric. Fleas can also live without biting the cat, they can survive on hair, dust, litter, in your bed, clothes, etc. I'll get more into this when I get back from work. Luckily I've only found one flea, and I can take care of this before it gets out of control. Hope you're in the same situation.
