Alcohol As Social Lube

...real alcoholics, I know I'm better off than you. I don't crave booze. I don't come home on weekdays and chug to relax. Sometimes a glass of wine w/ dinner, or the odd beer with the roommates.

Weekends, different story. Hit the club/bar. Drink because it tastes good. Drink because she's not interesting / hot. Drink because I'm dancin'. Drink because I'm bored. Fuck. Owned the next day. Bloated / hungover / toxic.

Me n a buddy are having a 'race to a sixpack', for $100. That means in addition to the usual shit I do (6meals day / lift every other day and interval train after / cardio on off days / eat clean for my LBM), I'm gonna go alcohol free for the month of August.

Fuck. Me.

I mean, what other option is there? I've been on the above plan for more or less 3 years now, and I think I've hit the wall w/ it. My gut is at a 2-pack, as my weekly schedule is healthy, and my weekend schedule is TOXIC. 5 steps forward mon-friday, 3 steps back fri-sun. Not a good formula to bodybuild.

But how the fuck am I gonna hang out with people? Go to bars/clubs and NOT drink? WTF-ever!!! On the other hand, maybe I'll be forced to have real conversations instead of bar-conversations and war-whoops.

Nondrinking, (legal) nightlife alternatives for those who's friends are drunks, plz. A month never seemed so long!

Make friends who have interests other than getting drunk on the weekends. There are people who *gasp* don't even go to bars or clubs on a regular basis. You won't find many of them around here, but they do exist.

I am certainly not at the clubs every night of the weekend. However, it's rare that a Friday or Saturday will go down without having just ONE drink. Even if it's a beer by myself, because I'm so cool that nobody can stand having me around. Or splitting a pitcher w/ a buddy during a game of 14.1.

Just shook hands on 'no alcohol for a month'. Surprised at how often it's around.

if you don't want to drink then don't what other people do with themselves is their business. although, you think your better than me, I guess I don't crave alcohol I just like to drink a lot. I mean like every day even just a beer which is good for you. you couldn't just take the calories from something else to make up for the 150 calories that is in one beer?

I've cut out drinking during the week.

I still drink when I go out on the weekends but I'm trying to make it more of a habit to just drink club soda. Trust me - you really don't miss the alcohol too much, you don't have to drive home drunk & you feel better in the morning.

did that for around 2 years at one point in my life. i played out every weekend too, so i was in a bar constantly. i just didn't drink or use drugs. i made sure i had a sprite in hand the whole time. that way people think you are having a cocktail, like them, so they don't ask. plus it keeps you busy as well.

i'm sorry, i don't understand yr problem except the only way i quick things that i consider bad habits it to pull myself from the situations where i usual do them.
