When I interviewed for my job, I was very honest about what I had done in previous positions. The reason I did that is because I wanted them to know exactly what I knew starting off so that shit like what I just experienced wouldn't happen.........

I do not have an accounting degree.
I have never taken an accounting class.
I have worked accounts payable for almost 5 years.
NEVER in those 5 years did I need to use excel, and I have never used Great Plains.
At my new job I am doing recievables.
There is no written directions on how to do anything here.
My job now uses Excel and Great Plains, so I am learning it.
I do not understand fancy accounting terms so you are gonna have to explain them to me, so that I understand what I did wrong, how to correct it, and how to keep it from happening in the future.

I did A/R for 6 years. I'll take your job. Somebody needs to train you. How else do they expect you to learn? Some poeple are so stupid.

Great Plains fucking sucks.

Excel on the other hand is easy to learn and understand, and it is quite a handy tool when you're working with numbers.

I know that some ppl are such fucking dicks about training someone. They do not have good leadership skills. It is sad that you are working with ppl who are like that.

If I do something wrong, them maybe someone should have said something also before I messed it up additional times, I mean they ARE CHECKING MY WORK!

I feel your pain. I was honest about what I knew about air cargo when I was interviewed for my current job. But I guess I'm lucky in that when I ask for some direction of for them to tell me what a term means, they gladly help.

PS - I'm also having to learn Excel and Access. And a few other proprietary systems.

those classes are usually very basic. i always took shit like that thinking it would teach me something... but i always learned more on my own anyway.

I turned 24 this year.

what's funny is that even though it's basic to you, most ppl it's hard & diffcult if they never took those classes. I just had to talk someone over the phone on who to sort a worksheet.

I don't even remember the name of that class, but I took it my sophomore year... and then I ended up working in an office. Okay that is why I learned it more, I had a comptroller there who wasn't a fucked up bitch & knew how to train new employees on whatever was going.
