![]() ![]() ![]() | Overhearing Christians talk about x-mas at dinner last night
I'm generally not one to be annoyed by people holding convo's when at a restaurant but religion is just poor dinner convo, especially when everyone else can hear you.(always seems to be a common occurance in this fucking city) Anyways this group of "church involved"(no clue what church) people were holding a convo about the holiday. One lady was talking about how she doesn't want to pass out gifts or put up any santa claus decorations b/c it takes away from the meaning of the holiday. Another guy went on to say that childran don't know Santa Claus is St. Nicholos, then during a later conversation said something to the degree of "We give out gifts to the poor but we don't have a holiday for that." 1.It's called "Boxing Day". Celebrated in England the day after x-mas 2.Christmas is an american corporate construct. So is Santa Claus. Coca Cola game up with the image as we're familiar with it. The holiday for over a 100 years in america has been nothing more than an excuse to give a day off to overworked and underpaid poor fucks and give the economy a yearly boost. 3.Protestant denominations didn't celebrate x-mas in this country until the 1800's. The only people who celebrated x-mas in this country were catholics. The holiday was ALWAYS a luder and much more "pagan" celebration for the lower class in terms of celebration. Protestants snubbed their nose at it for this very reason. So group of overweight, middle aged, weird christian people if you're catholic spend all day in church, don't give your children presents and don't let them have some fun with the holiday so they'll hate you for the rest of their lives. If you're baptist or any offshoot of protestant or lutheran or what the hell ever revert to pre-industrialized america and just don't celebrate the fucking holiday. CHRIST.

OH, I love how some Christian group got all pissed off because Lowe's put out a mailer selling "Christmas Trees". HOW DARE THEY CALL IT THAT! So, the Christian group started an email campaign to put an end to it... and Lowe's changed their online advertisement to read "Family Trees"... but they couldn't change the mailers that had been sent out. I AM SO OFFENDED!

![]() ![]() ![]() | So do alot of people. Don't get me wrong I think there is beauty and meaning behind the holiday. My memories of xmas mass were always good ones despite my ever changing views of religion. But for your religion to hinder you from being a normal member of society and finding some pleasure in the day is rediculous. It's also rediculous to think that your religion is an efficient source for unearthing the historical truth behind something when you're view is nothing more than a distortion of the turth.

A) it's a pagan holiday (Jesus wasn't born on Dec. 25th) B) Santa isn't real C) It's only good for presents and marketing profits. D) Celebrate Hanukkah

Well I'll be sure to think of what a heathen I am when I'm on my fifth scotch and water while wallowing around on the floor in my loot.

Dude, that's faggotry to an exponential level. . . I have made my decision, I'm making a sign that says "America, you're fat and stupid. Get a life, and do something." It's going to be in front of my yard.
