How pissed would you be if your lunch was stolen and eaten out of your works fridge? And, what punishment should the person who stole it get? Should I ask for them to be fired? Would you want to know who did it if your manager found out?

There has been a problem at my work with this and it finally happened to me? I blew up and made a scene and walked out of my job.

Few facts: I live in a small town and the pizza place here has a unique design that no pizza place has. There is no possible way a mistake could have been made and no group of people ordered lunch and put the boxes back in the fridge today. Basically, there is no other excuse other than the person straight up stole and they knew what they were doing.

I was fighting pissed and willing to fight anyone at my work. If it was a dude things would have gotten nasty and if it was a girl she would have to call her boyfriend or brother to come stomp me out. This shit is straight up ghetto and displays the lowest possible level of class anyone could have.

I talked to my manager on my way home over the phone and they found out who did it. Would you want to know who did it and what would you say to them? I am sure they are going to have the person confront me Monday and apologize. I am not sure I even want to know who it was. I hold grudges like no other and a "sorry" and $5 isnt going to sort things out.

Should I accept an apology and be nice? Or should I sit there and continue to ask sharp ass questions about what was going through their head that made them think that taking someone elses food was OK...which would make them look like a fucking fool.

Is it alright for someone to raid the fridge and eat shit other people paid for?

My advice is to worry about much more important things than a stolen lunch. In my opinion, if you walked out of your job because someone stole your lunch, then there are deeper issues that you should look at. That's your JOB, dude. I'm not saying what they did was right. But holding a grudge over that isn't going to fix it or make anything better. If management has caught the person and they are a repeat offender and it can be proven, then ask them to punish him or write him up and reiterate that unpunished theft in the workplace does not go over well with the workforce commission. But leave the person alone. They may be broke and desperate and hungry.... doesn't make it right. They obviously have issues. I can't stand thieves... but you should rise above them.

The only guy that works weekends has been taking the sugar cubes I keep in my desk(I can't lock it) for his coffee(which he isn't supposed to be drinking because of his heart problems). So last weekend I took my sugar cubes home and left a note in the drawer that said "Quit stealing my sugar, Jules". He hasn't tried taking anything since then.

lol, this reminds me of when i used to work at this job , and this exact thing happened to me. i went ape shit, and called out the whole office. They all just stared at me, then i said whoever did this best come forward , and apologize now before i find out myself, and give them the ass kicking of their life. No one fessed up so i called them all pussies. my boss stood their , and said ok since no one wants to fess up the fridge is off limits to store your lunch till the person who did this fesses up. A week goes by nothing, finally someone walked in his office and ratted on the guy who did it. My boss called me in, and said here's the deal, this is who did it, and i won't stop you from doing what you said, just know that your fired too as soon as its done. i said so you fired him, and he replied he's gone as soon as we finish this meeting. I felt i had already made my point by saying what i said, and its not worth a good paying job, even though he deserved to get his ass beat.

Even trade. His job for my lunch. Everybody clowned him when they found out.

We all signed a sheet (honor code) the next day not to have that happen ever again, or face being fired it included food, money in peoples desk, and or other possessions.

"Attention __________, please stop taking other people's food that they work hard to pay for. Thanks!"

But since it's in public view, then someone may take it down before he sees it... and the public humiliation factor is going a bit overboard. Maybe if they have a locker or desk that no one else uses, leave it in there. Don't sign it though. Just let them wonder who knows they are stealing lunches and he'll be less likely to steal from anyone.

I personally don't mind if someone at work eats my food. As long as they acknowledge it. Or if I'm there just ask. And when they get a chance just get me back. I just don't like being lied to.

The way I see it, if I was broke and hungry I'd probably have to throw myself on someone else's mercy too.
