So I get to work, log into my two computers with my password, everything goes fine. Start working and about an hour into it, both the Mac and PC stop working, reboot both, and now either can no longer connect to are main server. Spent an hour just to find out IT forced me to change my password, and because of this I lost the project I was working this morning.

I hate stupid IT people!!

*not saying all IT people are stupid, just the ones here where I work*

How did you loose your project, if you just changed your pw? IT should have saved your old profile and migrated it to the new one... i am just saying

I never said I was superior, nor do I think IT is easy (I can't do it) but when you have all the crazy stuff happen like it does here then it becomes aggravating. Thats why I said the IT people where I work. They have no problem solving skills nor do they act like they care when there is a problem, when we write up a trouble ticket it takes them days to actually respond (and we are in the building right next door). We have a server that we save everything to, and this isn't the first time things like this happen, it took them 1 month to get this brand new sever barely working/and another to get it up to speed 4 IT techs later (we sat around 8 hours a day for almost 2 months with out being able to work) that is just in the other room. And after they actually got it working, then all of a sudden a 16mb vector based files started taking 45 mins to print in black and white. It got so bad that our roland press was at a stand still for 3 days and thats our companies money maker. So again I will say, it's the IT's that work where I work, not all IT's.

Because the program we use works as your in a file based off ur current login password, If you have a lose in power or get disconnected it automatically saves your current password, user name, computer name, and current project.

Thats good when u have power outages or a random disconnection, the problem is if you have to change your password while you have a file in one of these "back-up saves", you no longer have all the needed keys to get into the file again, and the way the tech system is set up here I can not use a previous password for a 12 months. Since you can't even log into the sever back ups are on anyway with out logging in with a new password. Your pretty much screwed.

Even if you save as you go, and you get disconnected, it puts a lock on the file and only only allows that one user to reaccess that file, so when you have to change something in your user settings for example your password (after a disconnect, or power outage) then it causes issues.

It's a good system and is has saved my ass many of times by keeping some of the larger files up to date after a power outage, or some random server disconnect, but since I no longer have all of the same settings, I had to start over this morning.
