Broken Nose?

Caught an elbow straight down on the bridge of my nose today playing basketball. Heard a "crack". Nose bled from the left nostril for about a min then stopped. I have some minor swelling on both sides, but more on the right side. No bruising under eyes though (so far anyway). Nose does appear slightly shifted but can't tell if the swelling is making it look like that. I can apply pretty good pressure with my fingers and while there is soreness, there isn't pain. If it is broke or fractured, I don't think it's too bad. Will have to wait for this swelling to go down I guess to tell if it's really jacked.

So I've been sitting for 3 hours with ice on my nose. This day is off to a fabulous start.

Better get it fixed or it's plastic surgery for you buddy. A nose like that won't be looking too hot to a 21 year old.

You should see a doctor about it. Get it reset right. You can have sinus problems down the road if you don't. Although everything could be alright.

Here's the thing. The swelling has already subsided quite a bit. Still no bruising whatsoever. Almost no pain at all (although still a bit sore to the touch as expected). I actually completely forget about my noise for about 20 mins when I took a shower and was getting dressed because I feel no pain. Breathing is good.

I mean if my nose was really broken only 6 hours ago wouldn't I be in some serious discomfort and there be some serious swelling & bruising? All the pics I looked at online of other people's noses were hideous. Nothing like what mine looks like.

Do you think Monday would be too much time to wait to see a doctor if I decide I think something is wrong? Right now when I look in the mirror, from a distance, I have a hard time seeing anything too outta place. When I get close I notice a little swelling, and maybe, just maybe (that's how hard it is to tell) a slight curvature of my nose in the middle. For all I know that could have been there forever though. Never really studied my nose that close until this happened. I kinda had a funky nose to begin with anyway and have been asked in the past if I had broken it before.

Looks like I dodged a bullet. I do think I got a small fracture but it appears I'm gonna be alright. Roomate didn't even notice anything was wrong until I told him what happened and I even ended up going out on a date last night. lol! Swelling is way down today as is a lot of the soreness. Got a tad bit of bruising on my right eye now but it's not bad. Now who wants to go play some ball?!!!
