Ever had your ear totally chewed by a client?

I deal with stressed out people quite often. We do what we can, and usually take care of any situation. yesterday, I had some fool completely curse me and yell like he was having some kind of episode. I told him I wasnt going to allow that kind of talk, and he would have to touch base with my boss the next day before I would have anything to do with the deal..

Everyones backing me up in the office. I have seen some businesses that, no matter what, they kissy poo all day no matter what the customer is trippin about because, "the customer is always right"

I dont play that..

Welcome to my world. I deal with bullshit contractors and consultants that use every excuse in the book to be lazy and not have their shit back to me on a timely basis. Comes with the paycheck. But it still sucks that this is a daily occurrence.

my old boss used to do the same thing with shitty customers; once they started screaming at him and being all unreasonable (like threatening to call the government and have them sue us. true story!), he would just be like "Sir, if you're not going to be able to have an adult conversation about this, then i'm going to hang up. I'm not going to sit here while you curse me out and make wild threats." i would be in my office listening to him and laughing my ass off.

These dudes I deal with on a daily basis are allowing me to control my anger in ways I've never been able to do before....but damn, there are days I'm tempted to tell them off. I like my paycheck too much to do that (esp with my 8% raise I just got).

I'm lucky enough to have a boss who backs me on everything.

One day a few weeks ago, a certain high profile radio personality was throwing a fit about something and started cussing at me. I walked out, went to my desk, wrote an email to his boss and my boss that basically said in a nutshell, "This is what happened, this is what caused it, attached is the prior email with proof that this was out of my hands and would have never happened had it been followed through per my original instructions, this is how I resolved it after the first resolution failed, this is whose fault it was... and if I am EVER spoken to in that manner or with profanity regarding a business situation again, then I will take further steps and go up the chain of command to make sure it does not happen. I show everyone here respect for their jobs and I expect the same treatment. Talk all the shit you want about me on the radio... because after all, it's all a 'bit', right? But talk to me like that in person and we will have a problem that HR will not like at all."

I never heard a thing from it again aside from my boss saying to me, "Problem solved. Good job."

I don't get offended by profanity. I get offended when it is directed at me regarding a business situation, and I will only tolerate it once from an individual. Any further problems after that and you can expect to hear from the 'higher ups'.

Amy gets that shit a lot. She's the Admin Asst for The Campbell Agency. It's one of the top modeling/acting agencies in the country. The adult models/actors are always nice for the most part, but the parents of the child models/actors are incredible. They will call up and start cussing at her, or come in to pay a fee and throw the money on the counter at her with attitude like they should be catered to. I'm always thinking, "Um... aren't you aware that your kid wouldn't be doing shit and you wouldn't be collecting paychecks on them if it weren't for the agency that reps you?". Luckily, anytime someone acts like that, Amy can go to the owner or the agent and let them know... and they usually tell the client "If you ever treat my employees like this again you will be dropped and looking for new representation." Amy is gradually learning how to be a bitch... and personally, I think it's awesome.
