I came into contact with someone who had chickenpox. Since they had a vaccination we didn't think they could get it. Problem is, I've never had it before.

instead of getting your vaccination, why don't become a jehovah's witness and collect as many germs as possible going door to door?

This vaccine contains a modified, live virus. Therefore, some individuals should not receive the vaccine. These people include individuals who:

* Have cancer, and/or take cancer treatment with x-rays or drugs,
* Don’t have immune systems that work well (i.e. active HIV disease),
* Take drugs that affect the immune system such as oral steroids for 2 weeks or longer,
* Take cancer treatment with x-rays or drugs, and
* Anyone who has received blood products 3 weeks before or antibodies 5 month before.
* Anyone who has life-threatening allergic reactions to gelatin, the antibiotic neomycin or previous doses of the vaccine should not receive the vaccine.
